STOP CALLING BLASTOCYST STEM CELL RESEARCH EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH!!!!! CALL IT WHAT IT IS! BLASTOCYST STEM CELL RESEARCH!!!! From here on out WE Democrats and compassionate human beings who care about helping the LIVING should NEVER, EVER, EVER say "Embryonic Stem Cell Research" because it feeds right into the religious rights falsehood that a BLASTCYST is a BABY. No more. Call it what it is..."BLASTOCYST STEM CELL RESEARCH."

This reminds me of the "Late-Term abortion" and "Partial Birth Abortion" TWISTED term the religious wacko right likes to throw out to muddy the waters/facts.

Don't let them do it with Blastocyst Stem Cell Research!

1. this got me to thinking
about something. We need an area (like a dictionary) to go to for "word" info. When repugs call it "embryonic stell cell", we counter with what you pointed. When the repugs call themselves pro-life, we need to counter them by saying 'no, you're anti-choice". There are a ton of these word games (not sure what else to call them at this point). They have hijacked certain phrases that we need to redefine!

3. We always let them frame the debate with their twisted illogical phrases
and labels. We need to stop letting them do that.

Blastocyst Stem Cell Research.

6. Couldn't agree with you more, we're always using the twisted labels the
neo-con(artists) use to frame the debate.

Another example: "The Death Tax"
Well, at first hearing, that sounds like a bad idea.
We should call it "The Dead Millionaires Tax."
which is what it really is.

4. Why not "Blastocyst Research"
Leave out "stem cell." Just call it "Blastocyst Research" and "Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer" - never ever "Cloning" or "Therapeutic Cloning" or "Stem Cell Research."

Besides - "Blastocyst Research" sounds enough like "blastoma" that the "Flat Earth Creationists" will get all bollixed up and "Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer" sounds enough like a Rumsfield project that the Repugs will back it - and call any criticism of "Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer"" un-American.

Kind of reminds me of my Dad's joke/fatherly advice before I started college--
Now when you go to college they may make you matriculate and show your thesis to the Dean. Now, don't you matriculate in public - and you don't need to show your thesis to anybody but a doctor.

And when you come home, and I ask you what they taught you - don't tell me "Pie are square" because I know - cake are square and pie are round.

5. I LIKE it.
We need to get rid of the "Embryonic" crap. I like blastocyst research. It's simple. Easy to say. Easy to remember. :hi:

7. Newts' Word CONTROL
I just checked about the wording of some republucans and then found newts memo/video.this is what the repubs are still doing...they frame all statements on the wording......perhaps the leaders of our Party and the spokesmen on tv should read and learn...how they are turning the words around to discredit our issues.

*************************************************************

Language: A Key Mechanism of Control

Newt Gingrich's 1996 GOPAC memo

As you know, one of the key points in the GOPAC tapes is that "language matters." In the video "We are a Majority," Language is listed as a key mechanism of control used by a majority party, along with Agenda, Rules, Attitude and Learning.

snip

This list is prepared so that you might have a directory of words to use in writing literature and mail, in preparing speeches, and in producing electronic media. The words and phrases are powerful. Read them. Memorize as many as possible. And remember that like any tool, these words will not help if they are not used.

Optimistic Positive Governing Words
Use the list below to help define your campaign and your vision of public service. These words can help give extra power to your message. In addition, these words help develop the positive side of the contrast you should create with your opponent, giving your community something to vote for!

8. Good post.
I also how they love to say reform which sounds like a positive thing.

However, reforming jury awards, social security, and all the other things they want to "fix", only hurts the poor and middle America and lines the pockets and bloats the bank accounts of the wealthy.

10. Not only not used ON them, but they should turn it around and USE the same
language BACK AT 'EM.

For example, instead of "Tort Reform" our guys should be calling it "Anti-victim compensation legislation." (Or something like that, I'm not terribly cleaver on Monday morning.)
