Jerry Springer DESTROYING republican arguments against DSM |
|
MAN O MAN, if this is any sort of prelude to what's going to happen in Congress, we have a good shot at winning. Of course, the repugs are going to fight it, but some will not be able to deny that the arguments for investigation are ROCK SOLID!!!
Tune in to AAR and listen to Springer... he's taking MANY calls from repugs who are drunk on the coolaid... and they can't make their case!

5. I just can't listen to Springer |
|
His television show ruined any chance of credibility he ever could have had with me.

I go through extended periods of time when I don't watch TV at all and never watched his show, but was well aware of what utterly trash TV it was just through other cultural feedback.
Like many, I had written him off as a scum bucket.
Then I heard a report on Ira Glass's "This American Life" on Independent Radio International that profiled Springer.
It was amazingly like a modern day Shakepearean tragedy. He had been an absolute shining star in the Democratic party.
Many people thought he had Presidential potential at a very young age. He became Mayor of Cinncinati. He then made an incredibly stupid gaffe. He went to a prostitute and made the ingenius maneuver of paying her with a highly traceable check.
A scandal ensued. There went his political career.
He then resurrected himself in a very strange way, by throwing caution to the wind and exploiting the tabloid market.
I've listened to him on regular occasions recently. He deeply cares about our country and recently when a caller said that she never liked his TV show, he said, "that just shows that you have good taste."
Please reconsider, he's using his voice for our cause. But he drones on at times and I wish he'd get a cohost to lighten him up a bit. But excuse him for how he made his dough. It would seem as though that foray was largely reactionary and that he wouldn't be broadcasting as he is now if he didn't feel deeply for the things we care about as well.

Smart, moral, aware. The TV show was an abberation, everyone's got to eat.

of those kind of talk shows. What I am not sure of is when it started. Was Geraldo before Jerry?

After Geraldo, but before Oprah went mainstream (you guys do remember that Oprah was like Springer at first, right?) :)

15. This Should Be No Surprise, Mr. McCoy |
|
Years and years of dealing with the rationalizations and delusions displayed in "Revenge of the Jilted Lovers" and the like is an especially apt training ground for seeing through and dispossing of rightist "debating points"....
