Coincidence? Kerry's DSM floor speech and increase in antiKerry postings
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 10:40 AM by blm
I am not a coincidence theorist. I find it interesting that some want to claim Kerry is just being an opportunist and I think they are saying it to dilute the whole point and focus of the DSM.

If Kerry is just an opportunist, that would mean he only does things to help himself politically.

Any fair reading of history would note that Kerry always took the opportunity to put himself and his family into the CROSSHAIRS of the rightwing powerstructures with his over 3 decades of opposing them and exposing their corruption.

NONE of this helped him politically. He was branded a lefty whacko conspiracy theorist and the press belittled him personally for years.

The operatives of the GOP have always had their planted talking points against Kerry over these many years, and they know exactly how to tweak them when needed. They need them now.....again.

3. Some of that is explained by Stature
If people are paying attention to Kerry, that reminds people, who already don't like him, to take a few potshots at him. But some of it might very well be what you are hinting at.

4. Will he give a floor speech?
All he said was that he intends to raise the issue... does that necessarily mean a floor speech?

7. Well, speech was shorthand for raising it as an issue on the Senate floor.
Subject line shorthand. ;)))))))))

1. Kerry = opportunist (BLM you covered this)

2. Kerry should have said XYZ, he's a wimp

3. SKULL N BONES!!!!

12. Brilliant "coincidence theorist"--I will use that. You GO John!!!
The period of mandatory dvetching ended a couple of weeks after the election. In forum like this, dealing with a loss for some means bitching. But it should be LONG over.

If Kerry, when Kerry picks up the mantle on this, he's our leader, period. As we've all noticed, we don't have anyone with the strength plus popularity to speak for us. Kerry can do that.

i SUPPORT JOHN KERRY IN HIS EFFORT TO STOP THE CRIMINAL ELITE.

AFTERALL, HE WON THE ELECTION. T'WAS STOLEN THE LIGHT OF DAY AND ARK OF NIGHT.

13. Totally
It's like predicting rain when you hear thunder.

Like that guy S.J. last night.

You will recognize talking points when you realize that each one is exactly 180 degrees from the truth. Ordinary criticisms aren't that precise--they are usually critical of some action or statement, and are usually about the person not being aggressive enough. Talking points attack character traits very often, and make sweeping generalizations. I like to see people pointing these out, because the danger is that some people won't see them.

17. With me
I don't believe in coincidences. I think everything happens for some purpose whether through the powers that be of this world or the spiritual world whether God or whomever. Kerry was right how the media would follow him. He knows, obviously, how it's run and can play the game with the rest of them. Of course the media would follow him since he's the "failed presidential canidate" so when he goes after George Bush and the neocons of course they'll follow to try to get rid of him and to frame the debate before him with their talking points. No coincidence indeed.

18. I agree with you.
It's always the same tired old voices that we hear -- always complaining about Senator Kerry... The shit is getting old, and you'd think that they'd get tired of their mantra. Unfortunately, they seem just as tireless in their attacks as we are in our defense. The problem here is that the roles should be reversed -- we should be relentlessly attacking the Republicans (trolls, FReeps, etc.) rather than always being on the defensive. I, for one, am about sick and fucking tired of their moronic attempts at division. Sadly, their pathetic attempts are more than successful at times when we should be standing behind our representatives in Congress. Let's hope that the true Democrats on this board and everywhere can unite today against the Republican menace.

25. Seems to happen whenever he does something halfway decent
he'd take action in Ohio, and the postings would increase.

But then again, I'm still convinced that I could post a thread with simply "Kerry" in it and it would attracts bashing just by virtue of being there. So it might be the red flag of just bringing up his name that's doing it.

have not seen any reason to do so today. If he brings up the memo, great.

I just hope he doesn't do it in an inept way so as to get as little attention possible...
