Can anyone name a single instance where Saddam Threatened America?
Saddam the Madman, the next Hitler, the Mass murderer, but just how did he threaten the USA. Did he declare war on America? Did he say he was out to get America? Can anyone name a single instance where Saddam threatened America? We attacked because of Imminant Threat to America. What exactly was that threat? What did Saddam do or say that was so threatening?

1. Yes, of course.
He had been involved in a huge WMD production program, based largely upon massive quantities of "yellow cake" uranium he bought in Niger. He was within :45 minutes of attacking our nation when President Bush led the troops into battle from his position in the fighter jet that he refused to land on the air craft carrier until his mission was accomplished. All Muslims now enjoy democracy, and there is peace in the Middle East. Don't you watch Fox News?

3. Oh, and that one time on 9/11!
When he personally flew a plane into one WTC Tower, teleported to the other, flew it into the second tower, and then hit the eject button just in time, folded out his hang-glider, and glided to his waiting superyacht, where he met Goldfinger, Blofeld, and Dr. Evil, with whom he discussed plans for world domination.

6. He flew all four planes.
He also leaked information to Mark Felt. In fact, every bad thing that ever happened was as a result of him.

2. He has NEVER been a threat to us...
You can argue that he's a maniacal sociopath to his people - all very true - but he's not a moron. He wasn't going to attack the U.S. because he knew that would be the end of him. But the Bush neocons knew he was an easy target with his ragtag military. The troubling thing is that we're having all this trouble with a loosely organized group of insurgents. What message does that send to N Korea, Iran or some other country that could actually do something to hurt us?

17. In light of the individuals, that little story is highly suspect, IMHO.

5. He threatened us by not attacking
If he had been allowed to continue NOT attacking, then Bush couldn't have invaded and think of the mess we'd be in then...er...at least I think that's the logic.

Halliburton, Carlyle Group, Bechtel, etc would have lost billions in profits, our economy would have been stagnant...we'd have a lot more trouble passing massive tax cuts for the rich...it would have been a terrible mess. And because Saddam knew this and refused to attack we had to invade.

See, the threat is obvious :P

8. Saddam is like Count Dooku
When Darth Sidious (Cheney) decided Darth Vader (Bush) would be his new leader, Count Dooku had to be eliminated.

Just a conspiracy theory until I saw a certain video last night; now it's a Kwiatowski Theory. She is in a better position to know than most, I think.

11. the Kuwait invasion was a threat to us
Edited on Mon Jun-06-05 12:26 PM by maxsolomon
and i mean that in a realpolitik sense. we must have the kuwaiti oil, and we could not tolerate its absorption into the iraqi oil stream. too much oil of the global supply would have been concentrated in the hands of hostile regimes: iran & iraq. then we'd have been stuck with the tottering, deprepit saud regime & its toleration of wahhabism. as opposed to now, where sweet iraqi crude flows straight to your tank on a blanket of rose petals.

so saddam threatened our economy with the spectre of his control over the oil, and his intransigence interms of outlasting the oil embargo imposed after kuwait.

remember dune? "he who can destroy a thing controls a thing" "the spice must flow".

12. Yesterday on c-span Nader pointed out that if
Saddam had been any kind of viable threat, the Israelis would have known about it and would have taken him out. The BFEE knew Saddam was no threat, but they also knew he stood in the way of a shitload of oil and that the American Sheeple could be manipulated into thinking he had something to do with 9/11. I blame the lazy Dems who didn't raise holy hell about a war based on lies, and a complicit media who decided their function was to get out the pom-poms and cheer.
