New Bolton scandal re: NSA intercept - it's STILL not over yet....
MAJOR SCOOP: Assistant Secretary of State Bill Burns & Libya the Subjects of One Bolton NSA Intercept Request

<snip>

Second, this shows that Bolton was in fact spying on his colleagues and their work. In this case, Bill Burns was his target.

The Bolton Battle is getting ready to rev up again -- and this news on Bolton, Burns and Libya may turn a number of other U.S. Senators against his nomination.

nomination. Is Bush just be stubborn showing his "resolve"? Or is it a coverup?

If Bolten goes in as UN Ambassador, so much more could be potentially classified. I also think they would try and pull a diplomatic immunity type of defense.

Bolten has the temperament to take revenge. That's known. The question is, did he do a "good deed" for the CIC to try and intimidate a critic of Bush (Wilson) by outing his wife?

Bush is also known to be loyal to those who are loyal to him. Is this Bolten's paycheck?

16. Voinovich knows the "why" of Bolton's nomination
He said on the seante floor that he knew why the admin had to nominate Bolton, and said that he'd tell any senator who came to his office. I haven't heard any more of the story since then, however.

Man oh man, would I LOVE to know that one!

22. One thing about National Security
Throughout last week with the talk of Deep Throat unmasking himself, one interview (can't recall for certain but I think it was Bradlee), he had said that when they (the Government) are using National Security as a reason to do or not do something it should be suspect. Especially at the level it was being used.

John Dean has stated publicly and written about all of the parallels he sees between the corrupt Nixon administration and Bush et al. So, it wouldn't suprise me if Bolten were a key part of the Plame outing. He wasn't the guy I had pegged as Novak's direct source, but you never know.

24. Current theory seems to be that what Biden and the other Dems
on the Foreign Relations committee are looking for is the names of the Americans on the NSA intercepts Bolton requested. They're trying to find out WHO he requested the documents for and what he did with the information.

Senators Jay Rockefeller and Pat Roberts of the Intelligance Committee have seen the intercepts but with the names redacted. They don't seem to think that there was any problem with the fact that Bolton requested the info but, without knowing who the subjects of the intercepts are, it's unknows why he asked for the info.

27. okay...since when does one Senate Committee usurp
another's duties? Why is another committee giving the review of documents asked for by another committee in the course of it's Constitutional responsibiity? And why did the Administration send it to the Intelligence Committee for an up or down review but not the committee requesting the information?

Too many questions. This smells like...(shhhhhh---coverup)

32. Because the administration would only give it to the Intelligence Committe
They flat out refused to give it to Senator Lugar when he made the request for the Foreign Relations committee. They made up some "rule" that because it was classifed info that they would only give it to the Intelligence Committe, and then only to the Chair and Co-Chair, they wouldn't let anyone else see it.

31. It's hard to know, at this point...
whether the WH is refusing the information based on the content of the info or whether they're just playing a power game with the Senators. They even refused the info to Senator Lugar, the Repub chair of the committee processing the Bolton nomination. In essense, the WH is stonewalling Congressional oversight, standing in the way of Congress' constitutional responsibility.

We even had people like Scott McClellen saying stuff like "the senate doesn't need any more information" - as if it's HIS job to determine what the senate needs in order to do its job!

The hunger and drive for power grabbing of this administration is just stunning.

Khan & a Malaysian Company were in a cahoots, selling nuclear material. The Malaysian Company was also contracted with Halliburton. There's so much dirt to expose, it's hard to keep up with.

12. Bolton, the DSM, Plame, pre-war cooking of intelligence...
it is all related.

IMO, Bolton is the link behind all the crimes behind getting us into the Iraq war, and is why the State Dept. is guarding documents. There has got to be some very damning information they are withholding.

Obama has a lot of respect for a Junior Senator.

I must say though, he and Durbin have BOTH ignored my emails about the Downing Street Minutes and I have emailed them 3 times about the issue. I'm hoping they are behind closed doors with Kerry and other Dems, pushing the issue to the floor.
