I thought Republicans supported state rights |
|
Of course they continually go against it, but I thought that state rights were part of their platform.
Unless it has to do with gay marriage. Or medical marijuana. Or anything they don't agree with, basically.
Then again, Republicans are supposed to be fiscally conservative and opposed to nation building too...

1. Just like judges are "activist" |
|
when they vote for abortion or gay marriage, but not when it comes to ruling what religion parents can or can't practice. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2005505260481

2. Another instance where the Repubs are against state rights |
|
ERISA -- federal statute that preempts state laws on employee benefits. This means that a state cannot require an employer to treat employees better than ERISA allows.

3. Republicans are liars. That's all you need to remember. |
|
They don't actually believe anything they say, and they will say anything if it suits their needs at the moment.
Anyone calling themselves a republican today should frankly be ashamed.

6. I'm continually fascinated by the sheer levels of hypocrisy |
|
I can't think of a single thing that they're supposed to stand for that they don't bastardize or completely go against on a regular basis. Pro-life? Ha. Moral? Ha. Fiscally responsible? Ha.

7. It is the liberal members of the Supreme Court |
|
that pushed this decision through. The Conservatives (Scalia, Rehnquist, Thomas) opposed it.
