FORT WORTH, Texas - Using an evangelical school gymnasium as a backdrop, Gov. Rick Perry put his signature to legislation restricting abortions and added his backing to a measure barring same-sex marriage. Perry signed a bill Sunday requiring girls under the age of 18 to get their parents' consent before having an abortion and also imposes more limits on late-term abortions.

"For too long, a blind eye has been turned to the rights of our most vulnerable human beings — that's the unborn in our society," Perry told a crowd of about 1,000 people gathered at the Calvary Christian Academy.....

"The critics are generally those who object to people of faith participating in government or the electoral process," said Perry spokeswoman Kathy Walt. "There are a number of critics who would object to this bill-signing if it were in a public school, a library, a Wal-Mart parking lot or any other venue, because they oppose pro-life and pro-family issues."

Pastor Larry White, of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Houston, said the gathering there was about life, family and marriage. "There are those that would drive people of faith from the public square if they could," White said.

Oh, right- the secular people are just running roughshod over the fundamentalists these days. I swear, fundamentalists have a burning need to see themselves as being under siege.

2. Yes, but does he support concealed carry for the unborn?
If the unborn had guns, wouldn't that protect them?

3. If girls under 18 are too young to decide for themselves whether or not
to have an abortion, aren't they too young to be responsible for an infant?

I don't have a problem with people of faith in politics. I have a problem with people of faith trying to force their morality into my laws.

That makes WAY TOO much sense! But really, that's where the new grandma and grandpa come into play. Have the new 16-year old mother bring the little tyke home to (grand)ma and (grand)pa and have them do "Raising Kids, Part II" All in the name of Jay-sus!!!

That's the the f*cking GOP mentality. I remember back after the Republicans seized Congress there was talk about cutting taxes so a second bread-winner of a two working-parent family could quit her/his job and stay at home. Cut enough taxes to offset a second salary? BWAHAHAHAHA--even I, with my limited knowledge of finance, knew THAT could never happen. Apparently, enough people saw through this ruse that the idea quickly died a quiet death.

The GOP is notorious for not thinking things through...

18. actually, as low as minimum wage in this country is... but those tax cuts
don't benefit minimum wage workers.

Yeah, grandma and grandpa obviously did SUCH a great job with the little missy that she went out and *gasp* HAD SEX- but somehow, making sure that she pays for the sin by having that baby will almost make up for it.

:sarcasm:

7. there's a picture of a German minister blessing Nazi party members
in WWII

it's in the Fotobibel....a feature of this Bible: on the page opposite each picture the text the editors think applies to the picture is printed in italics......the italicized text opposite this picture says 'you cannot serve 2 masters-you cannot serve both God and Mammon'

"Texans have made a decision about marriage and if there is some other state that has a more lenient view than Texas then maybe that's a better place for them to live," Perry said.

12. I'm always intrigued when hate is accompanied by smiles and
carefully coiffed hair (male and female). And suits. And oh-so-white, pasty faces. Reminds me of that famous lynching photo with the party atmosphere. So festive!

Words escape this Texan. I'm going to DFW this week to visit my family. I cannot even believe any more that I grew up in that place. How do any liberals develop in such a place, I ask you?

14. Oh those poor put-upon fundies! Talk about your victim mentality
They are just like the people who use racists slurs then cry "PC" when someone calls them on their racism.

Fundies want to impose their religion on others, erase the line of seperation...and then play the victim when someone calls them on it.

All too often, it's the same ones doing both.

15. Couldn't Tex-ass just secede and form their own theocratic country?
"There are a number of critics who would object to this bill-signing if it were in a public school, a library, a Wal-Mart parking lot or any other venue, because they oppose pro-life and pro-family issues."

No dipshit, we have government buildings for a reason, and signing bills is one of them.

"The critics are generally those who object to people of faith participating in government or the electoral process,"

I object to them participating in government because they are basically un-american.

19. The ladies look so happy about signing away their right to choose.
On the other hand, the people of Texas elected this guy by a majority. Maybe someday women will realize that having the government make your choice for you isn't so desirable after all. Choice does not = abortion. Choice = choice.

Women, the only minority group I can think of who has members that SMILE and joyfully and giddily hand the pen to the government to legislate away their rights.
