AFA vs. PTC on Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart is a chain of thousands of big stores.

But is it big enough for the contrary advice the Religious Right is getting from Donald Wildmon's American Family Association and Brent Bozell's Parents Television Council?

AFA says Wal-Mart "openly promotes the homosexual lifestyle" by allowing employees to have a “Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Associates” affinity group.

AFA "is advising pro-family shoppers to think twice before patronizing" Wal-Mart stores.

But the "Parents Television Council has given Wal-Mart its "Seal of Approval" for advertising during family-friendly tv shows.

Consumers will have to weigh how much they trust Donald Wildmon and Brent Bozell, as they choose between shopping at Wal-Mart and other stores.

1. This is great, we'll get the right and the left boycotting Wal-Mart
Then the only one's who will shop there will be the ignorant and the apathetic. Oh wait...

3. Yes, the number of rightwingers who can be moved by
Donald Wildmon not to shop at Wal-Mart because it's supposedly pro-gay, and the number of leftwingers who can be moved not to shop at Wal-Mart because it mistreats its workers, pales compares to the number of Americans unaware of any controversies about Wal-Mart.

4. It seems like with a lot of these
right winger religious nutballs just acknowledging that homosexuality exists in the world is promoting a "gay lifestyle" in their eyes. I also think people that get this worked up over what people do in the privacy of their bedrooms might be a little worried about their own iron grip on heterosexuality. Maybe they worry they're a little light in the sneakers (to use a homophobe phrase)...

:dilemma:
