Chomsky does not believe the US government did 911...so what....I don't believe it either...not that they are morally above that....but because they would have fucked it up while trying to do it.

11. Don't even dare to call me dumb....that said... |
|
Look at all the other operations that we have planned in the past and totally FOOBARed in every sense of the word....anything come to mind????
Every extremely complicated underhanded mission seems to get all fucked up and either does not go down right in any way (Bay of Pigs or any attempted assassination of Fidel), becomes a major fiasco (IraqNam etc), or there is a major leak indicating that we were undoubtedly involved (like Chile 1973).
As far as I can tell, 911 was executed perfectly and there are no leaks throwing credibility on the conspiracy theories. That would be an extremely tall order....I don't think it would be possible to pull that off given the previous track records in extreme situations like this.

what other spectacular successes might there have been? Ya gotta admit - pulling off 911 cleanly as a government cover up is a spectacular success (from a conspiracists point of view) that probably has no precedent.....
Of course, and I repeat myself here....bush and his cabal are not morally above doing this, but I just question them having the competence to do this.

he already pointed to the jfk assasination, an incident that many people continue to believe we do not know the whole truth about. Or, the deal Reagan made with the Ayatollah on the hostages. Hey as long as Im playing the role - what about the phony moon landing? ah maybe I'm not that good at this. lol I do have my doubts about jfk but I think a common thread of a lot of conspiracy theories is the assertion that the accepted story is just too improbable to be credible. But experience has taught me that probabilities are just that.

18. the JFK thing is nowhere NEAR as difficult to pull off |
|
as blowing up the twin towers and Pentagon!
Well...who knows....You could always make up conspiracies...We could pretend that the Soviet union and the US were really close buddies and that the leaders of both countries had huge interests in the military industrial complexes so that they agreed to have an arms race on a false pretext of hating each other....maybe it happened? Probably not though!

2 so-called leaders of the left who are more prominent than Chomsky, but have a tendency to consciously reject any information that suggests the republicans are evil. For example, their support of the invasion of Iraq and acceptance of the 2004 election result.

I can believe that about Lieberman, but Franken is quite vocal about the problems of the right-wing and current mis-Administration. I know Franken didn't support the invasion of Iraq, and as for the acceptance of the election results, so did our candidate. I thought it was something else.

8. It Is Impossble For Me, Sir |
|
To pass up an opportunity to defend Prof. Chomsky in some degree, since a number of my friends here have known some dismay at my disinclination towards the fellow generally.
If your title is to be take seriously, the authoir of the article would seem to be presenting Prof. Chomsky as engaged in some sort of subterfuge against the left, passing himself off as a rebel sort while really being an agent of the ruling classes. The actual thrust of the article you cite would be better phrased "a sheep in wolf's clothing". That sort of muddle by the author would seem to indicate his thinking is rather muddled, and a muddled mind is a poor platform from which to mount an assault on the good Professor. If the author is complaining of Prof. Chomsky's views on the September 11 attacks, and the materials relating to same on the site hosting this article are any indication of what its author thinks a clear view of those events entail, then it is quite obvious to me Prof. Chomsky is in the right here, and the author of this article a fool.

for alternative, broadcast news. As for Chomsky, yeah, I was a bit upset when he said he wasn't concerned about electronic voting, but I always chalked that up to an activist whose plate was already full.

38. It would seem pretty clever to me. |
|
They finance left-wing writers, giving the illusion of a free press, while providing a group for the right-wing to hate. And they have an understanding that these writers and publications will ignore anything that is really dangerous -- i.e. the truth about 911, whatever that is.
They'd be crazy not to. I've always said, the American elite is the smartest in the world. No other elite comes close to their ability to manipulate the system and the people.

.... to really read Chomsky in depth. :) But I have read enough of him to understand and agree with his stated concept of "manufactured consent", where our country's people are led to agree to odious governmental actions and policies only because they have been carefully and effectively propagandized.
And the Bush** administration has taken that to a whole new level.
