What I Like About Each & Every Candidate: The Positive Thread |
|
Tired of the candidate bashing? Join in my positive candidate-praising thread this evening. No snide remarks or innuendo allowed. In alphabetical order:
Braun - Her pioneering run is proving an African American woman is every bit up to the job. - She took it to Jesse Helms in the Senate. - Helped secure funds to repair America's schools, truly leaving no child behind.
Clark - Spent a lifetime helping defend our country. - Led our forces in a quick victory in Kosovo, ultimately reducing the loss of life in Yugoslavia's violent breakup. - Joins the Democratic Party to shatter the idea that soldiers are all Republicans.
Dean - Signed historic (and unpopular) Vermont GLBT civil rights bill. - He's devoted his entire adult life to human service, both as a physician and now public servant. - Came out strongly against the Iraq invasion despite the political heat. (And, since he's my guy, he gets an extra kudo...) - Revolutionizing political campaigning with a strong, effective, and energized grassroots organization that's restoring the Democratic Party's connections to all its members and bringing Americans back into their democracy.
Edwards - Fought for the "little guy" in personal injury cases, helping win justice against negligent corporations. - He won in the South, helping improve Democratic chances in many races. - Co-authored the "Patients Bill of Rights," improving healthcare standards for all.
Gephardt - Fierce champion of the right for workers to organize collectively and fight for fair wages and working conditions. - Led the fight in the House to pass President Clinton's 1993 economic recovery plan without a single Republican vote, resulting the longest and biggest peacetime expansion in U.S. history and record surpluses. - Fights to make sure that trade agreements include environmental and labor protections.
Graham - Has both executive and legislative experience from one of the biggest states. - He's an expert on intelligence matters and can question this administration informed by even secret facts. - Reaching out to "NASCAR Dads" in the South, and other challenging voting groups, to add votes to the Democratic side.
Lieberman - He enthusiastically accepted Al Gore's invitation to be his running mate, making history and energizing Jewish voters. - He helped consumers fight corporate rip-offs as Connecticut's Attorney General. - He reaches across the aisle in the Senate to try to build coalitions with moderate Republicans, advancing Democratic issues.
Kerry - Perhaps the most intelligent senator in our country. - Deep commitment to environmental progress, including blocking ANWR oil drilling. - Served our country proudly in Vietnam and helped convince our leaders to pull out.
Kucinich - Voted against the Iraq invasion and lobbied others vigorously to do the same. - Promotes single-payer universal healthcare. - Stood up to the electric monopoly in Cleveland.
Sharpton - He's a forceful, eloquent speaker who brilliantly frames our issues. - He has helped register thousands of new Democrats. - His tireless commitment to civil rights brings us closer to equal opportunity for all.

I would love to see Trent Lott say "Ms. President" to an African American woman! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Would he resign to avoid it?

I love this thread. I like all the candidates too. I definitely think that, given basic conventional wisdom, some obviously have a better chance to beat Bush than others.
However, ANY of them would be better than the Chimp. Anyone But Bush, baby.

8. Hey, that's what I like about them too. |
|
And another thing, they are all Democrats dedicated to taking back the executive branch. What's not to love?
