Subject: Ted Westhousing, '03 alumni, Ph.D. in Philosophy
The Office of the President was sad to learn of the death of Ted Westhousing today, a colonel in the U.S. Army in Iraq. In his memory, the flag will fly at half-staff tomorrow, June 7, 2005. His former professor at Emory, Dr. Donald Verene, shared the following information with me by phone today:
Ted Westhousing: Masters Degree in Philosophy from Emory Faculty at West Point Returned to Emory on leave to complete his Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2003. Volunteered for a 6-month appointment in Iraq starting January 2005. Killed two days ago.
