Subject: Ted Westhousing, '03 alumni, Ph.D. in Philosophy

The Office of the President was sad to learn of the death of Ted
Westhousing today, a colonel in the U.S. Army in Iraq. In his memory,
the flag will fly at half-staff tomorrow, June 7, 2005. His former
professor at Emory, Dr. Donald Verene, shared the following information
with me by phone today:

Ted Westhousing:
Masters Degree in Philosophy from Emory
Faculty at West Point
Returned to Emory on leave to complete his Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2003.
Volunteered for a 6-month appointment in Iraq starting January 2005.
Killed two days ago.

1. Another in the long list of tragedies
resulting from this criminal war. May those responsible pay for their crimes including this death. RIP
