Hilary Wainwright: Reclaim the State - Experiments in Popular Democracy (Verso 2003, ISBN 1-85984-689-0)

The writer describes experiments in participatory democracy from Brazil to UK. Her view is that more democracy, new forms of democracy, especially participatory democracy is the answer to neoliberal globalization. Best thing about the book is it's down to roots, practical aplications approach which is immensly thought-provoking, empowering and energising. For me the most interesting case-study was the now famous Porto Allegro where bugdet is to large extent decided by the people, not just their elected representatives.

Another world is possible!

1. No, I haven't heard of it,
but it sounds really interesting. I'm always on the lookout for new books like that, so thanks for the info!
