Don't Let Up on The Media Regarding The Dowing Street Memo

We all know that the MSM hasn't been filled with headlines about the Downing Street Memo in spite of our best efforts. But remember it took a long time--more than a year and a half for the media to take Watergate seriously. Now with the Internet--maybe we can give it a push.

Tony Blair will be in DC, and the Washington Post has not done much with the Downing Street Memo/Minutes except a few mid-May articles. They could do a lot more, especially with all the new related material released. The Toledo Blade has just won a Pulitzer Prize for Tiger Force (a series on war atrocities committed by US troops in Vietnam), so we thought we could congratulate them and ask them to do equally serious reporting on the Downing Street Memo/Minutes.

We should obviously all write in our own words. But here is mine--just as an example:


Dear Sir/Madam:

As you know, on May 1 of this year a document now commonly referred to as “|The Downing Street Memo” was released into the British Press. This document raises serious question about how the administration was handling intelligence related to Iraq and appears to suggest that the Bush Administration had already decided on war when publicly it was claiming that no such decision had been made.

This document suggest that the Bush administration was determined to “fix intelligence” around a predetermined policy.

It is most disturbing that there has been a virtual media blackout regarding “The Downing Street Memo”. Even more disturbing is the absence in the America media of any credible discussion or coverage regarding strong, credible and independent evidence that the Bush Administration intentionally mislead the U.S. Congress, the media and the American people.

I do hope you will accept the responsibility to address this issue and provide serious investigative journalism into this matter

Sending out letters everyday.

Just read a transcript of a discussion on Brit Hume where they talk about the DSM. They really muddy the water: "Yeah, yeah, old news, it was 'flawed' , not 'fixed'. Such bs. I'm gonna write a new round of letters addressing their spin.
