Rosie O and Joy Behar ripping Hannity a new one on The View |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 10:42 AM by gauguin57
He's sitting between them, and they're berating him about Iraq, Condi Rice, stem-cell research, etc. I'm giggling.
Rosie just told Sean to his face that Bush should be tried at the Hague as a war criminal.

Sean has a fixed fight. What we'll never see: bareknuckled "Fight Club" between the rightwing hatetalkers and their liberal adversaries. Rush would have a heart attack. They're more staged that Broadway. Scripted. Screened. Vetted. These guys can't think without a platoon of handlers feeding them their next line. Poor Sean. What made him think he could handle himself outside his box?

Must've been when he told her she couldn't get married.

IIRC she has always been critical of his regime. The most she has done is go on O'Reilly for an interview to intervene in Jeb's anti-gay adoption policy in FL and she said she doesn't have all the facts but she knows what she believes. She was also critical of Clinton, but she has always been an earnest supporter of Democrats and Dem causes.

But my trust in her credibility (and her credulity) has been severely strained. Not asking for a Mea Culpa from her, as it wouldn't matter - just saying that she proved to me that she's an idiot and, as much as people can change, idiocy is a hard stain to wash off. Specifically referring to (editing this in) her tendency to "overreact" as Undeterred put it below.

And that's it in a nutshell. I don't feel a need to forgive her because she didn't particularly anger me; her statements just led me to believe that she's an idiot... and nothing has subsequently made me change my mind - that's all.

Refer to Broken Clock Theory. Just because I view someone as a dumbass, doesn't mean that I believe that every word they say/write is tripe.
Look, I honestly cut her some slack originally - she's a NY'er, post-911, etc. But other factors combined to convince me that I was correct in my assessment. And in this case, assessment = opinion. That's all.

|
is reflected in the posts between this comment and your post. Lots of folks with an impression and little information.
She never ranted against Clinton. However, she was close to Hillary and felt very disappointed by Bill's behavior. Hillary's pain was felt by everyone close to them. She was entitled - she knows them.
And for those who think she tends to over react - isn't that what so many folks on DU want from their members of congress. Are you embarassed that it is (as always) the women who are standing up for something and the guys keep looking at their feet.

" disgusts me, and I know I'm not supposed to say this because I'm a good Democrat, but he lied to me when he said, 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman,' and then put the scarlet-letter blow job on her for the rest of her life... I hate you." --Rosie O'Donnell, attacking Clinton to get publicity for her stand-up career
Attribution or Pick A Source
These comments were made publicly, not between her and the Clintons.
And maybe our criteria differ but I call that a rant.
And as for the rest of it: And for those who think she tends to over react - isn't that what so many folks on DU want from their members of congress. Are you embarassed that it is (as always) the women who are standing up for something and the guys keep looking at their feet.
Yes, many seem to but I don't... and I deplore it when I see it. Action, yes. Overreaction rarely accomplishes anything but to make the speaker look foolish, IMO.
And yes. Editing to add that (although it's certainly noticeable), it isn't the gender issue that embarrasses me; it's the complicity of the majority of Congressional Dems, and that so few actually try to challenge it. Could just as easily used the CBC as an example.

for her years of Clinton bashing. Good. Atonement is needed by many. Expect more atonement from celebs to come. As Bush continues his slide, expect less "Die Hard" rhetoric for his former supporters. They'll crabwalk to the middle and sound very reasoned and diplomatic. They want to wash the Bush stink off as quickly as they can. Not that Rosie was a Bush supporter. But she was venomous towards Bill Clinton.

He's been repeasting the same lines for the past three years, since the runup to the war. "Rape rooms blah blah blah we're better off blah blah blah president had the moral courage blah blah blah Saddam was a bad man blah blah blah."
Just pull his string. The answer is always the same.
