Senator Feingold will question Blair about Downing St. Minutes!
<<SNIP>>
http://www.gazetteextra.com/feingold_side060705.asp

CLINTON-The Iraq War is a mess that's only getting messier, Sen. Russ Feingold said before and during a listening session Monday.

....

One of the people at the listening session said he was troubled that the Bush administration seems bent on following the path of "preventive war." He referred to the so-called "Downing Street memo," minutes of a meeting of British officials about Iraq eight months before the war.

.....

Feingold told his audience: "I can't tell you the amount of comment I've heard on the Downing Street memo."

He said he soon would be at a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Feingold said he would question Blair closely about the memo and prewar intelligence, which the Bush administration has admitted was wrong but which it maintains was not rigged to justify war.

21. Yes, we do not give Feingold nearly enough credit
He is one of the bravest members of the US Senate (in fact Barbara Boxer is the only one that gives him any competition in this area). While he has cast some votes that I have disagreed with (Ashcroft for AG in particular), I can always at least trust him to stand up for what he believes is right. Too often he is ignored by progressives, but he is one of our strongest allies in Washington.

2. Good. I bet he can get a grain of truth from Blair.
He's not used to just flat out lying like a bitch the way our facists are.

10. Actually, Blair is better at "flat out lying" than bush*.
Blair has to face the Commons in a grueling face to face confrontation every month. They have about 50 Galloways that don't pull punches. Blair has been publicly accused of "Flat out lying" about WMD. Blair handles himself well. They do the same in Canada. It is a wonderful idea. You MUST see this form of government in action.

bush* would fold and crumple into a quivering pile of tears if he had to face Commons.

11. I don't think Bush knows he's lying anymore, honestly.
But I've seen Blair perform, and it is a sight to behold. A political leader actually responding to questions and accusations. But Blair seems to do this by telling truths that don't answer any questions. It's how someone who fancies himself intelligent and moral lies without lying. I am hoping that Russ can make him take it a bit too far. Or at the very least, can get him to "not deny" the memo.

44. He would suck his thin, effete, pursed lips into his mouth...
...and his beady little eyes would dart around until he remembered to say he has a lunch to go to and strut out of the room with his little arms swinging to and fro.

Karen and Karl would never put their weak-minded little king in that kind of situation.

22. Don't get your hopes up.
British Parliament is a very aggressive place. Blair fends off shouted accusations of lying, murdering, and cheating daily. He is supremely greasy, and needs to be.

28. I second that!
At the press conference today, * and poodle nicely paved the way for smacking down anyone who brings up the minutes.

I'm almost thinking the dude in the audience (Steve?) was a plant to get it out in the open and have both of 'em address it there and put it to rest. I really doubt poodle was here to talk about poverty in Africa, rather, he was here to sequester w/* to get their lies straight on this one.

Sure Russ will ask about it, but I have a feeling that he is only doing it to look like he's concerned to his peers and constituents. Any answer poodle gives him will suffice.

I bet Kerry didn't speak to it on monday because he knew Tony'd be in town and the Repuke spin machine + poodle would make him look dumber than he already does by discrediting him and the memo as old news. My bet is, Kerry will not raise a stink about it in the coming days if he brings it up at all.

Sorry to be a downer, but we know how the 'pukes work. Going forward, the new talking point is "* and Blair addressed it sufficiently. The memo is nothing moe than ideas being floated around to anticipate worse-case scenario. The world is safer now that Sad*dam is out of power and most Americans don't care how we got there."

JMO.

32. You've got him confused with Tim RUSSERT

"Sure Russ will ask about it, but I have a feeling that he is only doing it to look like he's concerned to his peers and constituents. Any answer poodle gives him will suffice."

No, that's Tim RUSSERT, not RUSS Feingold. Russert let that priss Mehlman lie with impunity last Sunday.

42. I hope you are right..
.. and that it's Russert, not Feingold. None of the DEMs have really demonstrated to me that they are up for a fight, except for Byrd and Kennedy, but their pasts usually outshadow the message they are delivering on any given day, giving the 'pukes all kinds of things to bring up against them to detract from their issue.

And Kerry? Don't even start. This new military record and class grades shit is just something else the M$M and 'pukes can use to discredit anything he has to say.

I guess it was good that he suppressed his DSM speech. Probably would've made him look like a fool, IMO.

41. Which lie will Blair use on Russ?
Blair is good at quickly-deny swiftly move to adjoining topic and talk long enough to make a second question an onerus time consumer.

Blair on PBS used a slight variation just before his news conference with Bush. His language seemed inexact. His eyes shift sharply, slightly, almost imperceptably and then down cast causing a watcher to look below his face for a second. He's good at hiding.

Melman on MTP tried saying the document was discredited. He used the word "it" creatively. Didn't work that well.

On Diane Rehm they tried "fixed" could mean focused, rather than stationary. That didn't last within the broadcast itself.

Blair's timing seems suspicious. Why come over here to ask for funds. I think he came to present a unified front against these minutes. They're on the ropes. I don't think it well go away just yet.

I hope it backfires of them. Too many people have died for their sick profit.

5. Somebody mailed weird stuff to him yesterday, but all is OK
"My Middleton campaign office received an envelope today which contained a white powdery substance that spilled out when it was opened. As a precaution, my staff immediately alerted both the Middleton Police Department and the Threat Assessment Unit of the U.S. Capitol Police who worked with the hazardous materials units on the scene. I take the health and safety of the people who work for me very seriously and I'm grateful for the support and assistance given to my staff today by those who are trained to deal with this type of incident."

19. So what? I'd rather Russ and Top DEMs go on TV and talk about it.
What the hell is informally asking one of the co-conspirators about it going to do to let swing-voters know about this?

Oh- I SEE- when DEMs complain that "No one is doing anything about the memo" Russ can say : "Not true- I mentioned it to Blair over muffins- but that mean old media would not cover it. Didn't you read about that on a website or somthing???"

In Russ we trust!

I have admired Feingold for standing on principle and this is another example (along with the Patriot Act, Paygo, Campaign Finance Reform, and speaking out against the Nuclear Option Compromise). If you want to know more about Feingold, check this link out:
http://www.russfeingold.org/feingear.php

I think Feingold would be a great candidate in 2008. If he can get over the Jewish, divorced 2 times thing, he could do great things. Unlike Kerry, Feingold is able to explain every single one of his votes because he votes on principle, he is plain spoken. If he reminded me of any polician it would be Bu$h because Feingold will tell you what he means and won't apologize for it if it differs from what you believe.

Thanks for fighting for us Russ!
