Vaccines did and do cause autism (Special Report)

http://www.onlinejournal.com/Special_Reports/060305Pringle/060305pringle.html

On Feb 9, 2004, the National Autism Association issued a press release that reported on one of the larger studies under review based on the Centers for Disease Control's Vaccine Safety Datalink. Under independent investigation, the Association reported, of the CDC's data children were found to be 27 times more likely to develop autism after exposure to three thimerosal-containing vaccines (TCVs), than those who receive thimerosal-free versions.

Let that sink in. Twenty-seven times more likely to develop autism. Then consider that our government regulatory agencies had this information for years and deliberately kept it hidden from the public. This failure to warn the public was not due to negligence or laziness, it was a deliberate cover-up and it continues today.

How do we know they had it for years? Because the staff of Rep Dan Burton (R-Ill) obtained an Food and Drug Administration (FDA) internal email written on June 29, 1999, by former FDA scientist Peter Patriarca, that offered a "pros and cons" assessment of the dishonest statement about thimerosal in vaccines that the FDA was about to release, and described the questions that could be raised upon its release:

-snip- (this snip contains 5 questions)

The FDA knew.

-snip-

Thimerosal is nearly 50 percent mercury, which is a known to be extremely harmful to fetuses, infants and children. Beginning in 1987 and throughout the 1990s, it became the main source of mercury in infants and toddlers when the number of vaccines added to the national vaccine schedule nearly tripled.
-snip-
--------------------------------

what companies produce mercury? bet they are bushgang members.

if mercury has caused autism in my children, I'd be angry enough to kill.

(Mercury is an element; a poison that exists in nature.)

But of course I agree with you.

11. Rumsfeld was actually with Searle,
but the connections between Eli Lilly and the BFEE are numerous.

A sample of those who have been on the Eli Lilly payroll includes:

Former President George Herbert Walker Bush (one-time member of the Eli Lilly board of directors)
Former CEO of Enron, Ken Lay (one-time member of the Eli Lilly board of directors)
George W. Bush’s former director of Management and Budget, Mitch Daniels (a former Eli Lilly vice president)
George W. Bush’s Homeland Security Advisory Council member, Sidney Taurel (current CEO of Eli Lilly)
The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (a recipient of Eli Lilly funding)

http://zmagsite.zmag.org/May2004/levine0504.html

Fact # 7 Former President Bush (41) was appointed to the Eli Lilly board
of directors and lobbied for additional tax breaks until the Supreme
Court itself told him to stop.

Fact # 8 Former Vice President Quayle's family controlled Eli Lilly
during that time frame. As a result of Bush's appointment to the Eli
Lilly Board of Directors, it is suspected that Dan Quayle was selected
as the Vice Presidential Candidate.

Fact # 9 Present and former Eli Lilly executives are now employed with
the current Bush Administration.

Fact # 10 The Current Administration has tried to insert an eleventh
hour Eli Lilly Rider provision in the Homeland Security Bill, that
illegally protected the drug industry at the expense of thousands of
mercury poisoned children.

12. Thimerosol has mostly been removed from vaccines.
And it ought to be removed entirely. But that's no reason to stop vaccination.

A cousin of mine is profoundly autistic. He was diagnosed late--& before there was any therapy available. But all this occurred long before the problematic vaccines were used.

17. Good to see someone with a real command of the subject
making informed posts. My mother-in-law's a pediatrician with over thirty-five years of clinical experience. She does not recommend giving the MMR vaccine until kids are 24 months; she's had a very low incidence of autism in her practice--this is in SoCal, where autism is rampant--and no cases of measles, mumps or rubella. Mumps, rubella and polio are almost non-existant in the US.

5. Two Gulf War Vets I know
They both served together and married when they came home. They have two sons - BOTH are autistic. Both the man and the woman also have a sundry of medical problems, even though they are both only in their 30s. The woman blames it on all the vaccines they both had to take before shipping off. She tried to get medical benefits from the government for her sons because of this factor, but they keep denying her.

It should be investigated.

are killing us even as they aid us. It's nothing new. Life has always been this way, re lead dinnerware etc . The difference is, though, that we think that by now we should know better. And many of us do, but we are trapped by what is offered to us as consumers. Even those who choose to eschew TV and plastic and preservatives and what-all.. still full of toxins just from breathing air and drinking water and eating food.

15. You are cherry-picking also.
From your link:

"In the telephone briefing, McCormick and Steven Goodman, a Johns Hopkins physician and biostatistician who also served on the panel, did not rule out the possibility that some autistic children may have disorders of immunity or of digestion that explain the findings. "

("disorders of immunity" can affect mercury (thimerosal) excretion)

Also:

"One of the nation's leading vaccine skeptics, Rep. David Joseph Weldon (R-Fla.), who is a physician, criticized the report as "premature, perhaps perilously reliant on epidemiology, based on preliminary incomplete information."

comes from power plants was not in the air or seafood.

men put the mercury in vaccines and it was men that kept power plants from scrubbing their exhausts clean of mercury - all for their bottom lines: profit

just think of the money spent on autisim, whose is making the profit.

(I picked certain paragraphs from the article and you picked different ones and a third party might pick other paragraphs, shrug)

20. Amen.
This has been hashed and rehashed for 30 years. the brits and the CDC have expended huge amounts of time and energy on this, and before the conspiracy fans shout me down, much of this predates *, and there is no causal link.

Anecdotes of practitioners does not make public health medicine, nor is it science. Coincidence does not define causality. To say that because one thing predates a latter occurrence and therefore must be the cause has been known to be a scientific flaw for hundreds of years.

The reason we don't see measles very much in the US is NOT because it is disappearing magically, but because we vaccinate for it. Those who make the decision to not vaccinate are the beneficiaries of herd immunity, that is, the rest of the immunized population is actually protecting the non-immunized. At some point, the herd immunity can decrease sufficiently where the disease increases again.

21. Why did it take nearly 60 years for a spike in autism cases
to appear after the introduction of thimerosol?

Why, now that thimerosol has been removed from all but influenza vaccine, aren't we seeing a precipitous drop in autism cases?

No antivaccination zealot has ever answered either of those questions in a satisfactory manner.

23. The pluses outweigh the minuses with vaccines
I'd rather take a slim to none chance that vaccines will give my (future) children autism then take the chance that they get measles, mumps, polio, whatnot - which could easily give them autism or other lifelong problems, not to mention could be fatal. Besides, I don't want to agree with the fundies on this issue.

so that is a bogus answer. friday i was looking at their damn shot record. 22 shots in my 7 year olds life. they give like 4 shots at one time. wanted to give a fifth one to youngest and said no.....they got mad

how old are your kids. how many did they have. just in 5 years it has become outrageous.

it effected my oldest child. i have been doing research since he was two years old to see if it was the shots. but fuck me right.

to the diseases. They have been pretty good though about the fact that my kids got off-schedule and got some later than others. Maybe this is all about giving money to pharma corps.. but since it's my kids's lives on the line, I will give in. Simple as that. I weighed the risks of autism versus the other diseases and made the choice of having the shots. I am sorry that you took the risk and that it did not work out for your family. It is a Russian Roulette, I know. But as far as I could see there was more risk of getting the diseases than the autism. :(

Because of those vaccines, my kids will never go through this, or deal with the devestating side effects that many bring if they don't bring death:

So what we need to do is not fight against the vaccines, but fight for better ones.

33. but be honest here
you dismiss this issue there may be with a percentage of children to autism, add, bi polar ect......adn show me the possibility without. first i would suggest we see the number of children resulting in damaging effect of mumps and measles. i had both as a child. compared to autism from vaccination.

second. chicken pox, personally i wanted my child to get it. i weighed consequences with vaccination or disease. i was ok with child getting disease. and also the hep shot. that was taken away from me and passed a law.

third, are we going to include flu. which i have not done with children ever nor do i want to
west niles
sars

all these things i have done research and know what they do and risk in disease. i am not afraid. what if society decides for me to be afraid

there are shots that we dont need that the kids are getting

there are ways to give the vaccination without mercury, yet we dont do anything

now, my child is effected. not a to do with you, but it has premeated who we are as a family, a whole special way we have to go thru life, because of who he is.

and they can do this without mercury

why.....would you dismiss this so casually. yet.......i could say i spank child or raise voice, i am abusive. would that be a position of yours.

i feel if i am doing damage to my kids over all health, then that is abusive. a so be it, simply doesnt cut it for me.

35. I haven't been told to do the flu shot. They did want to do the
chicken pox and we did finally but not until about 3 years late because I was preganant with #2 kid and didn't want to risk exposing him.

As I said, we need to do something about having better vaccines. That means nixing the mercury and anything else that could not be in there.

So I didn't dismiss it casually, I just pointed out that I don't think we should give up on vaccines either.

we (the adults, the kids couldn't talk in that particular room... they were severe and profound students) often discussed how autism came about.

I believe my mom and dad (a special ed teacher and a guidance counselor) had a big theory about autism and asperger's and how one might identify them early on and "recover" from it later and were going to write a book on it, but then she died. :(

I will have to ask dad to write up some notes on their theories. (I can only vaguely recall what he told me. This was right after mom died and I was so upset most everything went in one ear and out the other. Mostly we were just talking about what an amazing person she was and how smart she was.)

34. The immunization schedule:
http://www.aafp.org/x7666.xml

DTp

Polio

MMR

Those make sense on whatever schedule somebody decides is appropriate.

People with a tendency to allergies and such may want to be more cautious than others.

But clearly (to me)- children do not need to be immunized for 12 things at once -ever - and esp. at 12-15 months..

That's what I would encourage people to question.

More is not always better.

-------

They would also have children taking:

HepB

Hib

Varicella (chickenpox)

PCV (Pneumococcal)

Influenza

HepA

when I took my kids in for shots and not because I was told to. Some of them, esp redundant shots, I let slide for several months.. often because my kids had a cold and I don't believe in letting them have shots when their immune system is weak.

Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 12:21 AM by bloom
Try some research before posting. sheesh.

This doesn't have anything to do with the fundies.

And vaccines don't have to be a problem at all without thimerosal and if too many are not given too soon too many at a time.

On edit:

Or read the article. 1 in 150 is the generally accepted rate these days.

"The corresponding increase in autism is concrete evidence of the link between autism and vaccines. Twenty years ago, autism only affected one in 10,000 children. The Autism Autoimmunity Project (AAP) reports that the disorder strikes 1 in 150 (or 1 in 68 families) today."
