If laws are passed making abortion illegal in America......
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 01:47 PM by Mich Otter
If abortions become illegal, and women are faced with jail for having abortions, will the laws be applied equally to rich and poor or will only the poor face punishment?
If all women are to be held accountable, will all women who go to other countries be tested to make sure they come home pregnant, if they leave the country already pregnant?
Will rich women be allowed to go to other countries and have abortions if they wish and get to hang out on the Riviera to recover for a few days while poor women face back-alley abortions?
Will the Bush twins be tested for pregnancy before they leave America?
Are you paying attention to who is getting their start in politics in your area? Do you know who is running for school board and city council where you live?
Are you familiar with;
The National Organization for Women?
http://www.now.org/
and Emily's List?
http://www.emilyslist.org/
They could use your help.

RU 386, the abortion pill, or whatever the number is, out there ahead of changes in law, even if its underground?

2. And what about miscarriages?
And what about miscarriages vs "miscarriages"?
Will all women who have miscarriages become suspects?

3. Have the laws ever been applied equally?
Hell, if you look at the history of law in this country, you'll see that a good many of them were created specifically to try to control the "unwashed masses." This is especially true of those regarding drug use.

4. I've heard that the abortion issue would be returned to each State
to decide if it's legal in their state. Is that wrong? I remembr before Rov v Wade, it was legal in NY (I lived in Pa.) I think there were only 2 or 3 states that OK'd abortion back then. I think what the PUbs are trying to do is overturn Roe, so that would put it all back to the State decisions.

8. Well, we've seen how the 'Pukes view states rights...
now that they control the Federal Government. The medical marijuana ruling, Asscroft's targeting of right-to-die statutes, etc.

14. No way!!
When did this happen? Well, I'm sure in that case it must have been those government-loving DEMOCRATS who went screaming to the Supreme Court when a state court wasn't going their way, right? :sarcasm:

6. The daughters, mistresses, and wives of rich white Republicans...
will ALWAYS have access to safe, legal abortion services.

They'll find a way to make the rest of us suffer under their rules, I guarantee it.

10. Rich people have access to powerful law firms.
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 01:46 PM by Selatius
Is there any question? Seriously. Besides, they'll travel out of country and have the abortion because buying plane tickets is probably a lot easier when you're filthy rich than if you're some poor minority in an urban ghetto.

15. You don't have to be a "Minority" to live in a ghetto.
Please think before you say such discriminatory things.

19. Well, I'm a minority, and I used to live in the inner-city.
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 09:18 AM by Selatius
It's not discriminatory at all because I really didn't see too many white folks where I used to live. Please don't patronize me on the point.

I also never said that you "had" to be a minority to end up in an inner-city poverty-stricken neighborhood. If that were, I would've explicitly stated so, but I didn't because just as many poor whites would be screwed over if abortions were banned as well.

13. There will always be loopholes....
In fact, some of them existed before Roe V Wade.

Most states will have exceptions for the "Health of the Mother." The right sort of women can find doctors who will swear the pregnancy would cause great mental stress. A quick trip to a private clinic for a D&C--no more problem!

16. Will women who are raped be able to have abortions?
if so any laws against abortion are meaningless. All a woman has to do is say she was raped.

And if she's required to point the finger at someone claiming he raped her, we'll have tons of false police reports when desperate women need abortions. So we'll have the woman in jail for filing a false police report (if it's discovered she lied), and innocent men facing arrest and possible rape convictions.
