BushSpeak: We used to laugh when Cheetah had a "conversation" with Tarzan.
SmirkingChimp is a blog that was way ahead of the curve.

Today, when our Cheetah-in-chief makes some kind of incomprehensible sounds to a pre-selected audience, or a TV camera, people either applaud, nod in agreement, or both.

The "Dumbing down of the American public" has become a phrase that many of us agree with. But who ever thought that Cheetah would be sitting in the Oval Office and be taken seriously by anyone who could still claim to be sane?

1. Don't go dissing Cheeta -- he's alive, and retired in Palm Springs!

I kid you not.

C.H.E.E.T.A. is the Committee to Help the Environments of Endangered & Threatened Apes. The Sanctuary was started by Dan Westfall when he received custody of Cheeta, of the "Tarzan" movies fame. Dan started the charity to create a large desert sanctuary that provides a residence, and lifelong social care and rehabilitation for homeless and unwanted showbiz primates. There are chimpanzees, monkeys, orangutans, baboons & many others at the desert refuge.

On edit: Cyrano -- I forgot to add that I agree with you wholeheartedly. I shake my head in disbelief at the fact that this guy could be president at all, let alone a two-termer. The bar has certainly been lowered in terms of what's expected of the President of the U.S. The applause, huzzahs and blind allegiance make it all the more surreal.

2. No disrespect meant toward Cheetah, but lighten up.
I admire any organization such as that you've brought to our attention. However, I was taking a shot at the grotesque gargoyle in the Oval Office, not an innocent, lovable primate.

3. I was kidding. My tongue was so far in my cheek that I may have hurt it!
And also it wasn't my intention to steer your thread off its moorings of outrage.

"Grotesque gargoyle" sums up * very well, BTW.
