Mitt Romney seems to think so and so do his cohorts. The goal for Romney is to beat Ted Kennedy. If he can do THAT...he can do ANYTHING! Like be President??????? :puke: Could Kennedy really ever lose his seat? Is that realistic or are the RW wackos a bunch of nut jobs? :7

Republican Mitt Romney has changed his position on abortion and other issues to build credibility with the extremist powerbrokers that control the GOP.

Why? He wants to run for President in 2008. But along the way, he has a decision in 2006 -- whether to run for governor again, or take on Senator Kennedy.

As Romney plots his rise, conservative commentators say that if he can "defeat the brother of JFK," he will have done more to "add momentum to a run for the presidency than anything he could accomplish as governor." That's the empty ambition of Republicans like Romney. A race against Kennedy would be, in the words of the Wall Street Journal, to "gain political capital" for a White House run.

Defeating Senator Kennedy is exactly the kind of credential that the fringe right wants in a candidate. Their sights are increasingly focused on Senator Kennedy -- with no credible challenger emerging for Senator Clinton in New York, the right-wing fantasizes about taking down a national icon.

3. OK, so here's my question.....what happened to Kerry's announcement

that he was going to bring up the DSM in the Senate. When the Rethug spin machine started spinning that teaser as "Kerry going to call for impeachment", did they possibly send unassailable Ted out instead? Are they trying to time contributions with his other statement about the DSM? What's up with the Kerry to Kennedy handoff? Is it a handoff of the issue?

and it was completely unexpected. Maybe it's a warm up for Kerry??? Let's hope they're just getting started!

Sorry for shouting, but this needs to be corrected. Conservative sites were paraphrasing (and getting wrong) what he told the editorial board at the New Bedford Standard-Times. They were all echo-chambering whoever did it first.
