About presidential pardons |
|
Can the president only pardon peolple of federal crimes, or can they pardon people of state criminal offenses as well?
I was thinking, what would happen if a republican controlled state or the federal government enacted a piece of legislation that criminalized something, could the president theoretically write out a pardon that pardons everyone of a particular offense on a weekly basis?

can he pardon himself, is that part of the Executive privilege the GOP's are always touting.
Here what it says in the Constitution
Article II
Section. 2. ...and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.
This is interpreted to mean federal crimes against the United States

3. I believe as world dictater he can pardon anyone anywhere |
|
Actually he can pardon anyone in the US. Just like a governor can pardon anyone in their state even if that person had been convicted of a local county or city crime.
