Kudos to local conservative paper for Darfur article
I was more than impressed with an article about a local school researching the Sudan issue and deciding that another Holocaust was underway and that they needed to do something.

Not only were the kids in this red part of the county able to process and analyze this important issue, the paper printed an article that was touching and implies administration neglect.

Quotes from hard copy of paper in front of me:

"Another genocide"

"We're all on planet Earth and we're all just trying to survive, and instead we keep killing each other."

"...this class of private-school students who spent the spring raising money and awareness of a crisis that could hardly be further removed from their lives."

When they met with the president's speechwriter (McGurn)..."He seemed like our concerns were a kid thing, like we were really cute. We didn't make the biggest impact on him."

"I learned to stand up for people. If during the Holocaust, there were more people standing up for the other people, I mean, no one would have died."

These kids haven't yet been polarized, haven't developed filters, haven't developed prejudices, haven't been numbed.

From Orange County Register, Local section, by Sam Miller, June 7, 2005.

1. Great. Do you have a link, or which Orange County (CA?)?
This looks really good. Get those kids researching and turn them into activists.
