Who's scared of Howard Dean?
Democrats that fear he may cost them their precious seats in office perhaps. Note to Dems: Your precious seat in office and your fantasy of being president ain't happening until you figure out who the real enemy is.

It's not Howard Dean and his even if you don't like them and even if the press plays them for forty days and nights, WORDS.

It's the DEEDS of the Republicans. Maybe you should focus on that for awhile. I hear a constitution crying. I hear someone dying in Iraq. I hear someone being tortured in my name. I don't believe my votes in America (great bastion of Democracy) are being counted.

Things you may want to address before Howard Dean's words.

3. I agree
I don't like the lock step mentality that the repugs have, but there are more important things in this world then the words of a DNC chair.

6. Good points
But there is also the old axiom "How is it you attend to the splinter in your neighbors eye and cannot see the plank in your own?" You can't really go after the far right without having a uniform platform yourself. While lots of what Dean says may be true, his combative rhetoric may turn off disillusioned republicans looking for a new party. And now more then ever, I am sure there are lots.

7. Dean's WORDS...
...are mild when compared to those of so many in the Republican/Neo-Con/Media Party. This is framing at its highest and lowest level, and major Dems are falling for it.

I'm just guessing that we'll not hear anything from Harry Reid like what's been said by Biden & Richardson. They are fools. This is no longer a game - the other side has stolen the playing field.

10. Someone has shown Dean the mountain top,he knows he may not
get there but he wants to work so others can get there. The man cares about his children and knows that they have to come up to the mountain in the future so he will not idly stand by and watch it be torn down. The man got blasted out of the water by the Dems and media and got back up and is still fighting. Why? He has children who need to come up to the mountain in the future..

11. I am.
If he convinces America that the democratic party thinks there's something wrong with being a white christian, we're screwed.

Until he starts to ask the people around him "is there a better way to say this?", I think he's going to drag the party down, and potentially cost progressives their ability to achieve power in the country.

13. The Democratic Party and its warring factions ...
Edited on Tue Jun-07-05 07:53 PM by welshTerrier2
there are many factions in the Party under the so-called "big tent" ... the latest little tear in the tent's fabric seems to be between Dean and a few other Dem Senators ... but it's all part of the same picture ...

the Democratic Party will lose if it doesn't find unity well before the next election cycle begins ... all of you "People Magazine" DU'ers get so juiced when the conflict is between Democratic personalities ... Dean said this and Edwards said that and blah, blah, blah ...

well, here's the bad news ... we are a Party comprised of many different constituencies and our Party leadership has failed to institute a process for all Democrats to truly be heard ... i applaud the DNC's issue survey but it's nowhere near enough ... how many Democrats actually believe they have much input on how their elected reps vote???

so, we have the DLC faction, the Dean followers, the anti-war crowd, the blacks, the religious left, regional differences (e.g. Northeast, South, West and Midwest), Latinos, women, pro choice, pro gun, anti-gun and seniors and on and on and on ...

all these differences and we're worried about some comment Dean or Edwards made??? we have a huge problem and the Party's power elite just doesn't understand it or doesn't care about it ... we came together last year; i wouldn't count on the same unity in 2006 ... our problems go way beyond Dean and Edwards; we better start opening up the Party and making it more democratic so that deep differences are respected and heard ... if we don't do this, a little public squawking will be the least of our problems ...

it's time to infuse the Democratic Party with a bit more democracy ...
