4. Waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!
I'm from Vermont, one of the best places to live and I'm in a red state now...waahaaahaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaaah
As soon as financially possible, I'm going back. I just don't like the thought of spending a Vermont winter in a storage unit very much.

5. Interesting
The West seems to have the most non-religious people. I wonder why some of these states went for Bush heavily.

7. my theory is that it is guns...
voters in the west are very independent, i really think some states like NM,AZ,NV and CO would have gone the other way if it wasnt for the gun issue. Dems did really well on the state level in CO and even MT. A lot of these people see us as coastal elites who want to take their gun toting lifestyle away. I am hoping the national party sees this and backs off the gun issue. It would be fine to make this a state & local issue. The northeast and CA have strict gun laws on the books and most likely always will. Let rural people and ranchers with acres and acres of land play with all the guns they want. We can win the west if we lose this anti-gun stigma.

9. I agree.
One of the few issues I'm not with the Democratic party on is gun control.

11. ive been trying to tell everyone this...
I hope Dean can change the impression that the west has of us. We have a lot more in common with them than they think. They are very progressive by nature. The West will be a lot easier to take back than the South and is very fast growing. I've been to Montana many times and they are not right wingers at all, but they love their rugged cowboy lifestyle.

I think we have a real shot at a senate set in MT and like what I see in this guy. Just sent him $100, check him out.

6. Proud to be a non-churched westerner.
A year or two ago there was an article about how Oregon is the least "churched" state in the country. Yay, us!! Score one for rational thought. :toast:

I went to a doctor today and he was asking me questions to fill out my file when he got to What religion are you? I answered None. He said, well ok then you are catholic. I thought he was joking until i looked down at my file and he had actually written catholic I was like uh wait, hey and he "explained" that we are all catholic or that saying no religion equals catholic. I just told him that i was baptized methodist so just put methodist on my file.

Strange encounter of the day for me.
