Carter Calls on U.S. to Shut Down Gitmo
http://news.yahoo.com/fc/World/Guantanamo_Detainees

ATLANTA - Former President Carter on Tuesday called for the United States to shut down the Guantanamo Bay prison to demonstrate its commitment to human rights. "The U.S. continues to suffer terrible embarrassment and a blow to our reputation ... because of reports concerning abuses of prisoners in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo," Carter said after a two-day human rights conference at his Atlanta center.

...Not that Bush will pay any attention...

1. Well, its good that someone has said it
If the White House won't accept what AI says about the US, I think they lose the right to quote them on anything regarding human rights violations elsewhere in the world from now on.

3. Someone needed to say it and I honestly can't think of anyone
who would have heavier credentials in human rights than Carter.

2. Bush replies:
"Carter's statement is absurd. He's been trained to lie because he hates freedom."
