Who would vote for Hilary Clinton in the primaries (if she ran)? |
|
I think I would--though for the primaries its a tough call because I already have two favorites.
A similar question was posed to democrats on C-SPAN's Washington Journal and I was surprised at the hostile and rude comments geared towards Clinton from people who claimed to be Democrats.
Who here would support her if she ran?

I like her but don't think this is the right year for her. She is too polarizing. At the outset she starts out with high negatives. Around 40-45% of the electorate will not vote for her under any circumstances. I would vote for her in a general election but I have mixed feelings about her in the primaries.

3. Surprisingly.....I wouldn't |
|
I don't think this is her time. I'd love to see her be President but I don't want to see Bush beat her and she just doesn't have enough experience and still has too much baggage to do it now. Give her some time in the Senate....where she is doing a great job.

Why would anyone support Hilary Clinton for political office? Her husband could easily have been a Republican, just like she was at one time.

She needs to stay out- she would cost us the election. Opposed to her running and as VP. She is a lighting rod-you hate her or you love her, extremely polarizing figure. I like her as an important Senator from NY, she is doing fine in that job. Let the Republicans live and die by "dynasty."

21. I am saying she would be stupid if she ran. If she is smart and is really |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 10:53 PM by Prodemsouth
intrested in the party winning she will bow out of both the primary and running on the ticket. Hoping she will be smart, (I think she is) and put all this to rest and say: "Not intrested in running for President as I said earlier and will decline to serve as a VP on the Party's ticket in November". She spells it with two "Ls" by the way. I think this Hillary running for President nonsense is a right wing wet dream and nothing more. Media keeps floating it because they want it to happen, to help their man-Bbush. I am hoping Senator Clinton proves me to be right and will do the right thing-not run in 04, get reelected Senator NY in 06.
On edit: Your misspelling her name, your posting nickname "Lalaland"(-a disparaging name used by conservatives to describe Liberals) and your low number of post-make me question your motives. Don't know many Dems who are serious about a Hillary run, including Dem women.

I want swing votes, not more polarization. I want Republicans to come over to our side. I want to crush the neocons into dust and see their movment become a bad memory. I want blue states all over the map and a humiliating defeat for Bush. I don't want someone with all that baggage in the race no matter how popular she is with Democratic women, in theory. Plus, she's my senator, she said she would see out her term and despite what her husband said, I would not want to release her from that. We need every senate seat we can get and putting one into play prematurely is not a very good idea, IMHO.

11. No. There are enough good candidates running. |

We don't need someone else to come in now and try to be a white knight. Somebody who isn't already in the race wasn't sure enough to win.

|
Just the mention of the name "Clinton" energizes the conservative base and starts slowly clawing away votes from the right of the middle. I know its stupid but that's the way it works.
Priority one is get rid of Bush. I don't think Hillary can do it, or, even if she did, Republican snipping would be about as bad as it was when Bill was Pres...

She voted for th IWR. She moved to NY so she could be a Senator. She's entirely too self-righteous. She's jaw droppingly divisive, as in no one would mobilize the right like she would. I don't see her as a liberal.

27. I can't support her because |
|
I have no respect for her. How could anybody have their spouse do the shit he did and turn the other cheek? My wife would have BBQ'd my ass. I think that Bill was a fantastic president, but he had the personal morals of a slug. Another case of brain B taking over. Staying in the all-powerful White House was too important for Hillary. And it's not like it was the first time it had happened. If she would have divorced his ass, she'd have my vote.

It takes a heap to depress me, but today's tv sure did. Bill wants Hill to run. NYers would release her from her commitment. Polls show her far and away the most popular Dem "candidate." I'd be thrilled to see her become President. But she'd lose. Or would she? But she won't run. Or will she? Part of my unhappiness here is the 9 declared candidates. I'm for Kerry---mainly because I think he has the best chance of winning. But none of them fire me up like Gore did in '88 and '00. I want to see it settled, see the Dems get behind one candidate. I know that will come, but meanwhile, it's painful. I don't trust Clark at all, I believe Hillary means what she says, Gore won't change his mind, and Dean looks like the grinning face on the Kool-Aid pitcher. I've seen Dems stampede over the cliff after candidates who couldn't effectively handle the R opposition, or didn't realize what they were dealing with. We've got a shot at winning, yet so far, we don't have much to campaign about except the incumbent's wretched performance, and that just isn't enough. We have to offer experience and leadership AND some positive direction AND enough charisma to set the voters afire. When will that begin? Hillary Clinton could do it. Al Gore could do it. And they're not in the ring. :(

She's a good, tough lady who stands up to the Right. But this election is FAR too important to be playing games and rolling dice. We have three very strong, progressive candidates--Kerry, Clark, and Dean--and we need to support them in their quests to oust Bush.
Since I'm a real Democrat, I'd vote for her in the general, but since that won't happen, I'm with the General (Clark).

33. Only narrow minded, shallow syncopants have a problem with Hillary |
|
They easily overlook how the rightwing establishment has painted her as some sinister political figure while the same propagandists sing the virtues of Dick Cheney, who is the vilest, slimyest bastard in Washington.
Her name's a dirty word, and the word "liberal" is a dirty word because the country we love is controlled by a pack of hypocrites and thugs.
I would be proud to vote for Hillary in a primary and work damn hard for her in the general election.
