Why did the Dems let Bush/Blair take the preemptive strike against DSM?
DSM broke in March. Why didn't the Party go on the attack before giving bush a chance to dismiss DSM?

1. Because (on a whole) prominent Dems have NO MEDIA SAVVY.
Thank you for bringing this up. I thought I was the only one today after posting a thread on Kerry's telegraphing that he was going to make a statement on the DSM and then sitting on his ass for days...VERY STUPID IMHO.

7. No media savvy or no media influence?
There may be some truth to what you say but I would submit that the corporate media's ongoing campaign to kill virtually every issue that could negatively impact Bush has at least as much to do with it.

9. Yes, there is media pushback...exactly why Dems need to try harder.
It's hard for the media to ignore a message when it is stated LOUDLY and in a concerted fashion. Hell, the only reason the DSM is now getting play in the media is precisely because of persistent and LOUD attention on the Internet. The DSM didn't come to light because our elected Dem leaders were talking about it in Congress or in the media. WE BROUGHT THE ISSUE TO THEM...and that's part of the problem with our current crop of (largely) opportunistic and media dumb Dem politicans.

14. I agree with Joe Madison.
At John Conyer's media bias forum, Madison said that Congressional Democrats literally need to march, en masse, into the media office buildings and demand that the truth be reported.

4. They didn't...this hastily-announced "news" conference was scheduled to...
...blow the wind out of Kennedy's sails, who was discussing the minutes on the Senate floor today.

12. No
Unless Kennedy's discussion was held in secret. He HAD to announce it to get it on the agenda. Anything he, or any other dem, could do to attract attention to the DSM would have been countered by some similar stunt by BushCo. It's what they do. They are the masters.

10. Agreed
We gave them a head fake, now they are on the record and all of the major media outlets are covering it. When it gets brought to the Senate floor the wind is in our sails & the media will continue to cover the story.

I sat here tonight after the press conference and watched ALL of the news coverage...we are on our way:)

13. The trick is to continue with the full court press {no pun intended}
We can't just let it slide solely onto the shoulders of our elected officials and the lazy media, we must continue with our letters & phone calls. If I ever get the printer fixed, I intend to print handbills and distribute throughout the city!! :)

I'm a little excitable right now, it's just that I have this incredible feeling that the impossible may just be possible.
