Take a million cars off the road
Buy a light bulb.

Seriously, I was in home depot tonight to buy some lightbulbs, and saw the florescents, so delayed buying any and did research.

Turns out not only are florescent lightbulbs cheaper (payback is 2.5 months for me, but the last 10 times as long). 1 100W bulb replaced with equivalent florescent, per US household, is equivalent pollution reduction (due to power savings) of 1 million cars.

Finally, if you have problems (like I do) with the florescent lighting (it gives me migraines), get a bulb with an electronic ballaest rather than magnetic. They don't have the flicker, turn on instantly (no warm up), etc.

1. Plus they don't "buzz".
Great idea! Thanks for sharing it!
