69. DNC has raised MORE MONEY THIS QUARTER
than any first non-election year quarter on the books.
A quick look at actual FEC reports
http://images.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/fecimg/?C00010603
shows that Dean has raised more money in an off year than any DNC Chair in history.
First Quarter of 2005 - $16.7 million
Q1/2004 - $28.7 million (presidential election year)
Q1/2003 - $8.7 million
Q1/2002 - $11.8
And Dean is on pace to break the midyear fundraising of $23.7 in the first six months of 2001. "He's raising this money by going around the country having fundraisers featuring HIM, talking to grassroots activists and his supporters. I doubt if any other DNC chairs in history could have done THAT, either. People want to see him and hear him and are spending money to do so -- all for the good of the DNC, and esp. state organizations.
Does this high-paid consultant want him to STOP? Or is he just joining the Let's Attack Dean party, right on cue:
It's official: the DLC wants WAR

You know, the DLC already tried this, and they lost miserably. Dean was still a candidate at that point, and they did NO damage -- in fact, may have helped him a bit because a lot of people got hoppin' mad at their insults to Dean supporters and their attempts to interfere. Let's hope they get another such serving of humble pie.
