IMO, his interview with Diane Sawyer last night was outstanding.
He truly manipulated the MSM to champion a worthy cause.
Yes, he used his status as a movie star and the new friendship with Angelina to talk about Africa/Aids/poverty and the beauty and intelligence of the African people. Bravo for Brad!
In my opinion, he was awesome! :loveya:

1. Sorry, no Pitt fan. He is just doing some redemption PR |
|
While once upon a time I thought he was a cutie with his head screwed on straight I realize he is just like a lot of guys - a cheater. Not all guys but Brad lost his moral high ground to me.
If he wanted dump Jennifer, fine. But there is an honorable way to go about it. and not in tabloids. And, no, I didn't like what Big Dog did but that is another story.

14. That's NOT what happened. Pitt wanted kids and Aniston did NOT. |
|
They were having problems about that for a few years. She chose to commit to her career, which is a fine decision for any person to make, and he didn't want to give up his goal to have a family.

It was cool how he acknowledged that the attention he gets is ridiculous when there are problems like Africa and AIDS. So is made a deal, use his celebrity to bring the crisis to the American people.

handle himself this way.
Yes, he is probably going with Angelina, so what!
We were not inside the marriage of Brad and precious Jen. For all we know Jen may have "kicked him to the curb" months ago.
If he just wanted publicity, he could have done a lot of other things.
He make a choice to use his celebrity for a cause that is vital to millions of people.
As an African American I was extremely touched that he cared about my people. He did not have to hug children with AIDS but he did and did it will compassion.

Joline is really good about good causes as well. I'm glad he's on board too. If George Bush can't do anything I'm glad people like Pitt can. I remember after the tsunami happened the first two people to make the most contributions were actors (DiCaprio and Bullock). Of course only after then and pressure did Bush make more contributions. :eyes:

7. And to think Jennifer is a republican. |
|
:puke: I have so much more respect for someone like Brad Pitt who cares about the Africans and AIDS and the world around him than about his Malibu Home and how much more money he can make. Granted, that business and money gave him the fame, but look at how he uses it! Honorably! He's a true humanitarian.
Did he cheat on Jennifer? I've never heard that from her or him, but have seen the cover of the National Enquirer.

23. Any celebrity who uses |
|
their access for the power of good is to be commended. Though not idolized. I happen to think Pitt is a decent actor (I particularly enjoy him when he's in a comic role...like "Snatch")and a guy who earnestly is trying to help people. Let's also think today of our wonderful ex-president, Jimmy Carter. The man has tirelessly worked to help the impoverished and imprisoned around the world. He and Rosalyn are so much farther along the path than the rest of us mortals.

drugs given to patients for psychiatric problems can literally give people back their lives. Whether they're taking anti-epileptics, anti-depressants, anti-psychotics, these are incredibly important agents that allow people who face these challenges to live as manageable a life as possible.
I'd like to hear what Mr. Cruise would do to treat people with post-traumatic stress syndrome, depression, general anxiety disorder, panic attacks, or schizophrenia. You can't just deprive healthcare professionals and patients of these vital drugs needed to combat mental illness.

40. When he went through that shanty-town |
|
searching out the woman with AIDS he had met before and then found her in her little shack unable to stand and just held her and was so happy to see her, it moved my heart.
He had quite a bit to say about simplifying life, and about how the most common medicines we take for granted are unavailable in Ethiopia (I believe that's where they were.) Children suffer and die for lack of a few $$$ of drugs.
We HAVE to care, even though many turn their heads away from Africa's problems. Kudos to Pitt for caring, and hey? His personal life is just that. Personal.
Thanks for the thread, goclark :hi:
