One thing you will never see - Repugs on MSM knocking their
leaders. They may hate their guts, dislike every word that comes out of the mouths, know the policies are smoke screens to pay back their corporate owners and know, know beyond in shadow of a doubt that they are hearing lies and yet, they will not criticize their party or their leaders where anyone can take note. Gingrich/Rove have got these guys performing like trained seals.

Meanwhile, Dems have no problem going before any and all cameras and microphones and knocking their leaders, publicly knocking our OWN suggestions and policies. We are the big tent with a whole range of views yet somehow this always comes off as a bunch of wackos that can't agree on whether the sun is shining or not. The repugs load the gun and then we shoot ourselves in the foot time after time.

Right now I don't care if Dean says that every repug has purple heart and six toes on each foot - I'll support him. Enough of the contentious spats.

Argh-h-h-h-h! End of rant.

1. Their discipline works for them quite a bit
Particularly because it mostly works one way. If a politician or commentator says something extreme, they will totally support said person. On the other hand if someone makes any concessions to the Democrats at all (even rhetorical concessions) well, that's grounds for serious attack and questioning.

That's why Democrats are required to disavow Michael Moore and Conservatives never get asked about Ann Coulter.

11. Isn't it more with DLC types and suckups to beltway whores
Biden is not DLC but he is certainly a suckup to the beltway whores.

Biden's comments were just plain fuckin' stupid. That same day, Senator Dodd was asked a similar question regarding Governor Dean and handled it nicely. Edwards comments aren't really all that much against Dean, and the same for Richardson's.
I hope Governor Dean keeps it up. He's telling the truth, and the whores and repukes think it is hell.

Either we are going to unite and get this bunch of a$$wipes out of our lives or we are going to keep answering stupid questions from stupid interviewers about inane sh*t.

17. Ah yes... the party line.
That's why the Pundits had a field day with Voinavich's passionate speech regarding Bolton's nomination - he wasn't toting the party line.

15. But lots of pathology!
The trick is to play tough, take no prisoners, but always be able to wink and nod to other democrats that it's for a noble cause - democracy.

Bottom line: Spew rhetoric with the best of them FOR OUR CAUSE but don't drink the party koolaid when the shades are pulled down, i.e., keep our leaders accountable.

14. Reagan's Law - never speak ill of another Republican.
Yeah, they mostly still hold to that, but sometimes they do speak out.

Nowhere near as much as we do, of course. And I do agree we should adopt Reagan's Law for our own party. State you disagree all you want, but don't criticize.

16. FUCK JOHN EDWARDS.
That idiot not only cost us the last election, but he actually believes that the best evidence of opposition is none whatsoever. He is so stupid that he also believes that the best way to dissent is to kiss some republican ass.

He totally pissed me off when he criticized Howard Dean on CNN. After the way he blew our best chance to regain the white house, he should shut the fuck up and let the rest of us lead our party to victory.

His arrogance when criticizing Howard Dean was beyond disgusting. It was downright revolting. He should crawl under a rock and make himself puke.

Go Howard! It is wonderful to have a party with some guts for a change.

18. Democrats shoot themselves in the foot
Why do they think we have to be so nice to the right wingers? They don't hold back anything. Just look what they did to John Kerry with blatant lies? Dean is merely telling the truth....

19. Yes, they do hold back.
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 11:23 AM by LoZoccolo
There was scarcely a mention of abortion during the Republican National Convention, nor any religious right leaders, nor any of the radio talk show hosts who may be the people you refer to as not holding back. They didn't really speak to "culture war" issues, but terrorism. The same-sex union bans that they put up during the last election were not promoted much at all. They actually do triangulate.

This is largely a message board who wants our chairman to act like Mike Malloy, and yet the Republicans do not have a Limbaugh figure as their chairman.

21. Position A: The world is dangerous, let's be enemies, I've got mine, etc.
Position B: The world is beautiful, let's be friends, I'll share with you, etc.

Republicans are selling Position A, and doing a good job of it because fear is so powerful. Democrats can't sell Position B because of widespread fear, and because they themselves believe some of Position A as well (it's also true, after all.) Republicans will acknowledge Position A as noble, but consign it to the private sector or faith-based groups.

The "Beltway Whores," for better or for worse, are the group who must govern. There's no way the masses will ever directly advance a progressive agenda; they must be led toward it by the apparatchiks, who must themselves be infiltrated.
