Bush/Blair's argument total Bullsh*t! Here's proof!
Bush and Blair are denying the DSM, saying that they gave Saddam every chance but he would not comply with "International Law (Blair) -"UN Resolution 1441" (Bush), and that's why we went to war.
Saddam DID comply! Here's a letter from Hans Blix:
http://www.un.org/Depts/unmovic/SC7asdelivered.htm

"Inspections in Iraq resumed on 27 November 2002. In matters relating to process, notably prompt access to sites, we have faced relatively few difficulties...

"...at this juncture we are able to perform professional no-notice inspections all over Iraq and to increase aerial surveillance...

"...In the last month, Iraq has provided us with the names of many persons, who may be relevant sources of information, in particular, persons who took part in various phases of the unilateral destruction of biological and chemical weapons, and proscribed missiles in 1991...

"...intelligence authorities have claimed that weapons of mass destruction are moved around Iraq by trucks and, in particular, that there are mobile production units for biological weapons. The Iraqi side states that such activities do not exist. Several inspections have taken place at declared and undeclared sites in relation to mobile production facilities. Food testing mobile laboratories and mobile workshops have been seen, as well as large containers with seed processing equipment. No evidence of proscribed activities have so far been found. ...

"...ground penetrating radar equipment was used in several specific locations. No underground facilities for chemical or biological production or storage were found so far...

"... Iraq has since accepted that these missiles and associated items be destroyed and has started the process of destruction under our supervision. The destruction undertaken constitutes a substantial measure of disarmament..."

much more at site.

Bush and Blair's argument was that Saddam could not produce the Paperwork proving that some previous WMD's were destroyed. WE WENT TO WAR OVER MISSING PAPERWORK!

Resolution 1441 was DESIGNED to fail. Bush and Blair were using it as an excuse to justify a war they had already planned before they went to the UN.

Just like the memo says.

1. "WE WENT TO WAR OVER MISSING PAPERWORK!"
That's what *I've* been saying for MONTHS!!

*That's* the justification! NO PAPERWORK!

All to spread the new colonialism to make the GOP's corporate blood-buddies even richer.

8. Don't forget that the administration suppressed much of

the paperwork it was given, alledgedly because it included embarrassing information on the culpability and involvement of corporations and governments.

10. Well said! Common Sense at play here. Thank you.
If bLAIR & Bu$$$H were not in fear of the "Downing Street Minutes" documentation they'd not have gotten together over a so-called failed African venture, in front of the world.

We need England to get roaring mad, because here, well, we need SPINE!

Resolution 1441 .... Resolution 1441 .... Resolution 1441

That's all we heard. Here is Mohamed ElBaradei, Director General of UN IAEA, THE STATUS OF NUCLEAR INSPECTIONS IN IRAQ, Statement to the United Nations Security Council given January 27, 2003.

Full Report Here: http://www.un.org/News/dh/iraq/elbaradei27jan03.htm

<snip>
CONCLUSION
To conclude: we have to date found no evidence that Iraq has revived its nuclear weapons programme since the elimination of the programme in the 1990s. However, our work is steadily progressing and should be allowed to run its natural course. With our verification system now in place, barring exceptional circumstances, and provided there is sustained proactive cooperation by Iraq, we should be able within the next few months to provide credible assurance that Iraq has no nuclear weapons programme. These few months would be a valuable investment in peace because they could help us avoid a war. We trust that we will continue to have your support as we make every effort to verify Iraq’s nuclear disarmament through peaceful means, and to demonstrate that the inspection process can and does work, as a central feature of the international nuclear arms control regime.

------

Note: The bombings on Iraqi air forces were already taking place.

edit to add -- this is in reference the "mushroom cloud" scare tactic used while they were fixing the intelligence and manipulating public opinion

12. You have to give up this
reality based thinking. You can ask the Pres questions, but whatever he says must become the new truth. Showing that it is contradicted by the old truth, is just partisan politics.
Have you never heard of Presidential Infallibility?
