Just Curious, Anyone know about the Irish Health Care System?
Social/Private? works/doesn't work? Favored by the populace, or no?

Any personal experience?

I've been hearing about the "Irish miracle" economy, and wondered how health care has factored in.

3. You get sick
And your dad tells you not to be a pussy while your brothers beat you up.

Though that may just be the Irish-American healthcare model.

4. Personal experience
I was on a bike trip there with a friend about 10 years ago. He had a minor crash, broken wrist. We went to a hospital. The wait was minor (under 30 minutes), the doctor very nice, x-rays and bandaged him up with a cast. Total cost, about $30. They didnt even ask about insurance.

8. Not a health care story, but
A young couple I know were honeymooning in Ireland. They decided to stay at a little inn one night, instead of returning to their main hotel. The next morning they discovered they had forgotten their credit card and didn't have enough cash to pay the bill. The innkeeper told them to just mail them the money when they got back. THAT wouldn't happen in the US!
