1. I just heard how important this district is....ouch! |
|
I didn't realize why this appointment was so important to BushCo...all cases involving governmental powers are referred to this court. Brown has written extensively about government powers, and she will side with BushCo on anything they send to her. This is a BIG deal, and it is pretty typical that we only hear about this at the 11:55 hour.

15. Randi just said that the only reason she isn't hysterical is because there |
|
are 24 Judges on this court, 17 were appointed by Democrats so JRB can write Dissents to her hearts content.
That made me feel a little better.

It may make you feel better than if you thought there were only 3 or 5 judges on this court.

traitor Not that its mandatory for African Americans to be liberal anything(which I am not)... but the fact that the NAACP opposes her is noteworthy.

From the clerk's site:
Recent Votes Refreshed every 20 minutes. Vote Date Question Result Description 00131 01-Jan Unspecified Unspecified 00130 07-Jun On the Cloture Motion Agreed to Motion To Invoke Cloture On The Nomination of Janice R. Brown, of California, To Be U.S. Circuit Judge
Rogers' vote was 131, guess they had to make the frame first.

9. Another brilliant "victory" for the Dems. |
|
Oh, yeah. They have saved the useless filibuster that they're too timid to use.
Happy Days Are Here Again!! For the Republicans and their "moderate" Dem allies.

would not be confirmed.
I'd say the question now is, how many more?

10. Sometimes I wonder why the Democrats bother to come back to D.C. |
|
As inspirational as Sens. Boxer and Kennedy were today, it was all for naught. The Republicans are nonthinking sheeples who toe the party line no matter what. We have to win back the majority.

13. As Senator Byrd said after Iraq Vote for Bush: Hang Sign/"Gone Fishing" |
|
I'm glad not to see him on that list ....unless I missed it.
I know Byrd voted for "Cloture" but figured it was because he "brokered the deal" to allow Filibuster" to stand and so he knew the vote would go for her and pragmatically speaking he said...Vote It...knowing we didn't have the votes to stop her.
It's really disgusting...and disheartening. Not much else to say about it.

I wonder how many ayes really think this is a good confirmation...as opposed to how many are just going what they are told under threat or pork offers. Do they really think she's qualified?
That is what is wrong with elimination of the fillibuster (or promise not to use it)...pug senators are not using their research, analysis, investigation and THEIR OWN OPINIONS to inform their votes. They are simply doing what they are told.
If each senator were independent, thinking for themselves, then the fillibuster would not be needed as much.
Another sad day for America. Another bad deal by the dems. Another hollow, meaningless victory for the opposition party.

Look at Snow and Collins of Maine, and Sununu and Gregg of New Hampshire, all rethugs.
The base closing committee wants to shut down the Porthsmouth Naval Ship Yard, the oldest in the country, that straddles the river dividing the two states. It repairs boomers. It is the most efficient and cost-saving ship yard in the country.
Very loyal for these four to vote as instructed when thousands will be soon unemployed.

it possible for Republicans to think for themselves? I mean their not a party their an individual organism at this point. I can't believe that the Party of States rights wouldn't have 1 representative that would find her objectionable.
