Police Chase & Shooting Investigation (3 teens shot, prob. unarmed)
June 7, 2005 — New information in a South Valley shooting, after at least one Tulare County deputy shot three suspects involved in a high speed pursuit.

Investigators say a 16-year-old boy remains in critical condition after Monday's shooting in Visalia.

<snip>

For now, investigators won't say if any of the suspects were armed.

The district attorney's office still has a lot to sort out with the shooting, including how many deputies actually fired their guns. They think the investigation could take up to a month.

<snip>

After shooting up three kids, I would think if the kids were armed, they would have said something.

2. Central CA. What's really weird to me is I had to search
for the area. This could have been Houston, NY, LA, Vegas, etc., etc., ad nauseum.

3. Shot in the dark..........
Color me cynical, but, I'll wager that the police find no wrong done by the police.

14. This Is California ---there are NO GUNS THERE
OOPS only the Police have guns in California. The citizens were disarmed a few years ago.

Rumor has it a few criminals in California have guns to prey on the UNARMED CITIZENS.

5. Video link to the story
illegal codeplayVideo('441199', 'Police%20Chase%20Ends%20in%20Gunfire', 'v', 'News', '168100', 'Homepage', 'fvCatNo=&backgroundImageURL=', '');

If it does not work, there is a link on the right hand side of the story link in the OP.

Witness: One victim was sitting in his seat, the other was trying to get away.

8. Nope, the Police do not give details in alot of cases.
Notice the charges include "assualt against officers." That may be because one had a gun.

No point in rushing to conclusions until the whole story is out there. Give it a few days.

9. If you watch the video and hear the witnesses it sounds like
this might be a case of overzealousness by the deputy. If the witness was correct in one of the kids was running away from the wreck, the deputy should be charged with attempted murder if the kid lives.

10. Not if the kid was armed... Need to wait till the whole story comes out.
The media is more wrong initially then not.

13. "The media is more wrong initially then not."
Especially when it comes to points of police impropriety?

I'd bet dollars to donuts that if this had not happened in a busy neighborhood, the kids would have been armed and it would have been announced.

Peace
