Dean is attacked because he threatens the establishment.
He ESPECIALLY challenges the corporacratic establishment which has become entirely TOO comfortable with manipulating the masses into their greedy pockets. God forbid the greediest among us actually face a challenge by the people who are supposed to be in charge.

In spite of the establishment's OBVIOUS endeavor to CONTROL the perception of this man who gives power to people through truth, he persists and people who meet him or listen to him,...LOVE HIM!!!! The CM can beat up on the man all day long. They can't take away what he is: he is human, he is real, he CARES about the lives of common folks, he wants to empower people, he seeks to create a path to opportunity FOR EVERYONE. I cannot help but indulge in his purity.

HE WEARS HIS PASSION FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THEIR POTENTIAL ON HIS SLEAVE!!!!

I LOVE THAT!!!!

He totally breaks from "the message" that we, the people, must be assimilated and *LOL* it pisses off the,...well,...you know,...the establishment!!!!

1. Not when he says the words that would appeal to the middle class
"White christian..." without saying how they're anything BUT Christian in their actions.

I saw his point and I'll definitely agree the M$M doesn't like him, but I maintain Dean's wording was slightly off.

14. Forgive me
but Dean makes little sense with what he says. I'm no troll. I voted for him in the D primary in 04. But I wish he'd just shut up because his oratory leaves a lot to be desired. He should be playing the MSM, not letting it play him via his ill-advised phraseology.
Again, forgive me.

2. he's attacked because it successfully freaks people out
look how easy it is to distract from the DSM and Bush's tanking poll numbers.

Just cook up a cheap Dean controversy and everyone freaks out right on cue.

8. So, is he the only Democrat capable of speech?
You say he's "distracting" the media from the DSM, etc. So, what's preventing other Democratic "leaders" from speaking out. Kerry? Biden?
Edwards? Reid? Have they been smitten tongueless?

10. they're all speaking
all of them are constantly saying various things all the time. And get ready for something horrible: they're not all saying the same thing! Oh no!

But the media is ignoring them all and playing gotcha with Dean, and a lot of people are going with the media's priorities about what's important.

6. Isn't this over yet? All this Dean saga does is distract
from the real issues , like the judiciary and DSM. This is the distraction technique. Dean isn't real news. Watch, they will keep everyone talking about Dean till we get a Jackson verdict! Funny how Blair didn't get this much attention! People were too busy with Dean to notice the lies!

We're quickly losing the judiciary while everyone's looking at the Dean controversy. How demoralizing!

23. The media exaggerated Dean's remarks then presented the exaggeration
(twisted beyond their original meaning) to other Dems and asked for comment.

Dems need to stop ACCEPTING the validity of the questions until they demand complete context from the media first.

12. He's attacked because
sometimes he sounds like a left wing Michael Savage.

There are better ways of saying things than speaking in a manner that sounds like he's off his meds...

13. He sounded perfectly fine to me. Always does. I hope he keeps it up.
The Dem party is sorely lacking true Democratic leadership. I'm glad we have one person willing to call out the GOP for what they are.

15. There are good Democrat leaders
like Mark Warner, Evan Bayh and others, that don't foam at the mouth.

They are the leaders who will bring Democrats back to power, if they can silence the wingnuts' shrieks.

16. Never seen foam at Dean's mouth...even though there are people here at
DU and in Dem leadership who'd love to see it. Sorry, I ain't buying what you're selling. If Evan Bayh would call the GOP for what it is he'd earn my money as well...but so far it's been wait and see from Dems the country over and times a wasting. I really would love to see a GOP inspired picture of Dean foaming at the mouth if you have one. That'd be pretty amazing.

17. Look, most DU'ers would be considered to be
far left extremists to most Americans. Just because Dean's rants make you "feel good" doesn't mean they'll help get Democrats electred by centrist voters.

And if you think that America has millions of secret leftists in hiding, just waiting to flood the polls and bring a new dawn of a "far left" America, well, I would kinda doubt that...

Democrats are going to get elected by sounding like the voters think, and Dean, although I don't dislike him, does not get that, although I have no doubt that college students will love him the more the veins pop out on his forehead.

18. Yeah, that's me...a fiscally conservative, crazy far left, married to a
blue collar, cookie baking, school supporting, soccer driving, raving far left crazy. No, No I'm just someone who is refreshed to see somebody framing the debate. Me, I'm a true Moderate Dem. I even **gasp** hunt...and we ***oops*** have an SUV...and my husband? He was a Libertarian leaning toward a Republican until he heard Dean speak. Doesn't quite fit into your little pigeonhole. Oh, I almost forgot....I've never owned a pair of Birkenstocks and I stopped believing a lot of what Fox News and most of the MSM has spun a long time ago. You should try it. :hi: Nice to meet you.

Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 08:54 PM by Moderate Dem
but you've got to admit that there are a lot of people who just want red meat, they don't care if it helps the party or not. I just think that Dean turns a lot of people off who are the ones that we need to be attracted to Democratic issues, not Democratic shouting.

Again, apologies, I've got to not prejudge so quickly.

22. I think he brings a lot of people (my self, my husband and many of
ours friends) into the party. I think people have got to stop being frightened of telling the truth. The GOP is the party of White, Christian Males...where women are breeders and blacks are decoration to make them look good. I won't even mention gays, Leviticus and all. There is nothing crazy, leftist or wrong with that.

We'll agree to disagree.

21. The corporate establishment loves Dean.
He's never done a damn thing to threaten them. That's why Dean's to contributor in the primary was employees of media giant AOL/Time Warner, and why the corporate establishment media gave him the most coverage during the primary. Get real man. Some of us expect action, not just talk. The fact that he got lots of people to give money to his campaign doesn't make him a populist either. All candidates want that.
