|
Edited on Wed Jun-08-05 10:24 PM by Stand and Fight
Now glossing over the WMD NON-issue. Stewart is confronting him on the fact that many other world governments and people in the intelligence community felt the intelligence was being skewed.
Pointing out the fallacy that the objection for going into Iraq has changed several times. Powell saying President Clinton's bombing Iraq in 1998 was based on the same kind of intelligence, but "intelligence is never perfect" and you do the best you can with what you have.
Paraphrase -- "What I presented to the United Nations was what I believed to be true at that time." Colin Powell saying his presentation was largely based on WMD and that he ended his presentation on the need for freedom in Iraq.
"What we have to do is defeat this insurgency."
"John, there was a lot of open debate. Congress debated it..." Stewart cuts in with wit, "I don't know how much debating went on, but I know they debated freedom fries a lot."
Cut to commercial...

|
him in the teeth.
It's truly surreal how servile Colin can be. Even in light of the disdain with which the Bush administration treated him, he still comes to their rescue when they ask him.
So here you have Colin Powell doing damage control on Jon Stewart's show, lying his ass off, telling us how bad Saddam was, once again. And to make matters worse, he had the disgraceful taste to blame the bad intelligence on Clinton.
Very sad. And very disgusting.

He is as guilty as the rest and he knows it.
