1. it has become a crime to tell the truth
Unfortunately this is the same quality which will defeat Dean if he ever tries to run for President again. (Sadly).

4. I thought you said "democratic leaders"
Joe Lieberman is neither a democrat, nor a leader.

He is a pandering, quivering, republican suck up, and an embarrassment to our party. Zell Miller on Qualudes.

6. NNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!
The only mistatement Dean made is calling the republican party Christian. They are as un-Christlike as is possible. Maybe if he would have called them the party of white psuedo-Christians he'd have been more accurate. But why quibble?

Dean shouldn't apologize for a damn thing. Look at the people he's talking about. Liars, sneaks, sticky-fingered thieves, people who wouldn't hesitate to sell out anyone for a buck and a little power.

8. Rethugs are the party of white psuedo-Christians.
Yes, that is more accurate.

The Dems that are dissing Dean &/or distancing themselves from his remarks are the chickenshit Dems.

7. If Dean said anything that was demonstrably untrue he should apologize.
Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 06:38 AM by bklyncowgirl
Since he was telling the unspeakable truth, the answer is HELL NO!

Of course he can continue to expand and refine what his statements and continue to pound the gist of the message--which is the Republicans are the party of wealthy elitists and religious fanatics--home which I expect is what he'll do.

10. HELL NO!
It is a strange land and strange time when a man lies and no one says anything about it but when a man expresses his observations and it happens to be accurate he is expected to apologize.

America is lost!

Dr.Dean is telling the truth. Rethugs have never cared for minorities, except when it could help further their own greedy agendas.

13. Should a former Repub senator apologize then, too?
John Danforth said the same thing in a March op-ed in the NYT: "By a series of recent initiatives, Republicans have transformed our party into the political arm of conservative Christians." http://www.truthout.org/docs_2005/033005H.shtml

Maybe, as some DUers have suggested, this is all theater, agreed upon by all the participants, to keep the media trained on what Dean is saying. That is giving a BIG benefit of the doubt to DLCers like Lieberman and Biden, but I am hugely happy that Dean is refusing to back down, in any case. Viva Howard!

15. No, No No --Remem ber not more than

a month ago Danforth(Ex Republican Senator--a Minister by Profession_
and Bush's Amb to UN ) wrote an OP ED Piece which was spread everywhere.
Danforth purpose in writing the arcle. __He accused
his own party of becoming a Christian Party. He did not mean
this as flattering--He meant it as a danger. Not one negative
comment was made when Danforth for saying this.

The Media are trying to discredit Dean. Bush is in trouble.
They have this wild dream they can push the Centrists forward
to run the country. The Problem I have is-- the Democratic Centrists
are reallyConservative Democrats.--nothing Centrist about them.
They can be rolled easily. This is a way to get Bush's SS Plan
in effect. Bush in trouble. Discredit DEan Use the Spinless Democrats with Moderate Republicans as a working group who can work with Bush.

Do all this in the name of Civility and getting things done in Washington.

Remind people Danforth said his own party was becoing a Chrisitan Party.

19. Sounds like certain Democratic leaders have cajones-envy.
The "too polite" party better get its act together. They need to stop cowering under coarse Republican attacks, stop mincing words, and start pulling BEHIND Chairman Dean and the people who are depending on them to do proper battle with these villains.

28. Should he? No.
Will he? More likely than not. I know Dean is an outsider, but he's now part of the system. You may try and change things from the outside, but it always seems to ooze a tentacle as it grows to bring you back in. Or it may use one of those anti-escape orbs.

there's nothing more slimy than a politician making an insincere apology. Let's leave the faux contrition for the GOP.
