Let us understand what Bush is up against in Iraq.
He is under the impression that if he buys kills the "insurgents" and buys off those he cannot kill off and installs a puppet regime given a fresh coat of paint of legitimacy, his problems will vanish like a morning fog. That is because he and his advisers are used to thinking in Western terms where a man is expected to act in his own self interest.

Unfortunately for Bush,in the Arab world and most of the Eastern world, people take a long term view. The Chinese and the Indians are noted for their infinite patience sometimes lasting centuries. They are also unmoved by Western ideas of individualism giving greater weight to a person's selflessness in the service of the community.

I am sure Bush has been able to buy some quislings in Iraq as we have done in Vietnam,Iran, Nicaragua, Chile and other places too numerous to mention.

In the end, these quislings will have to face their own people and when the chips are down they can and will switch sides. The great unraveling of our policy in the Middle East will depend to a great extent on the perceptions of the Iraqi people when enough blood of the invaders has been let out for an uprising against the quislings.

A very bad and hot desert wind is blowing.A wind of change in the Middle East is going to sweep the invaders and their quislings.
