Why are Democrats telling Dean to shut up? |
|
How come Republicans and Bush are not telling Dobson, Robertson, Falwell, etc. to also shut up?
Those Extremists are dangerous, Dean is telling the truth.
We need a little perspective check here, the Far Right's comments are the ones that are breaking families apart and hurting people. They are the ones that need to be stopped.
Howard Dean, who is simply being the Messenger of Truth, should be praised and not silenced.

It was a stupid thing to say. So was the Republicans never had a real job thing. Truth is though I really do not care. I think his days are numbered as the chair but I do not care about that either. '06 and '08 are all that matter. He will not be running and if he does he will not get the Democratic Nomination. Let him speak, if you do not like it... tough. It is still a free country, I think...

How about we write a quick note to those spineless babies and ask them to shut up or get the hell out of politics. I can't stand this backstabbing. Dean is their LAST HOPE. He has what it takes and they don't like it. He probably should run for president in 08 just to shake up this APATHETIC country we live in. (rant)

The righties have always been really good at putting their nutters in the spotlight, letting them spew extreme and psychotic bullshit, and then disavowing them. The nutter takes the hits, but the responding righties look sane by comparison and the dialogue is pushed that much further rightward.

Democrats have been led in bending over and dropping their pants for the GOP by the DLC for so long that they can't see themselves doing anything else.
Time to stop viewing ourselves as the "Loyal but not TOO opposite Opposition".
We're in a wrestling match for this country, and the GOP has been rubbing salt in our eyes while the Ref wasn't looking for WAY too long.
I saw the CNN web poll yesterday asking about Dean's statement. it was 51-49 in FAVOUR of what he said. Intersting. You'd think FR could have gotten their script kiddies working better than that...
Howard speaks for me. YEEE-AHHHH! About Fucking Time my party quit being afraid of the god-dam ReTHUGlicans!

15. Not sure which Democrats you are talking about |
|
John Edwards has tried to clear some of this up (not that the MSM shares that goal). He says: Instead, how about: Nonsense! We are both talking about the Republicans and their failure to address the needs of working people. We both agree with this basic truth: This Republican president and this Republican majority are not doing what they should be doing for working people in this country. That’s a core belief we need to fight for. And what’s more, we agree that we - all Democrats and all working people - should be complaining, criticizing, and generally speaking out about this critical failure of the Republican party and offering our positive vision for America. And we have.
Howard and I have been saying the same thing about this for years. Hear that? The same thing. For years.http://blog.oneamericacommittee.com/article.pl?sid=05/06/06/2117240§ion=&mode=nested&tid=1If you are not talking about Edwards, perhaps you could tell us which democrats you mean.

and people who signed on to parts of the Bush agenda and DLC Wormtongue advice. I am also disappointed in some of our talk radio non-journalists who are too stupid not to fall into the media framing and branding and adjudicating of non-issues like these. And it's not just Ed Schultz. On a differnet planet or a different time this polite criticism of word parsing might be minimally rational. But not in a crisis still unfaced by the vast majority of the top of the party.
They and many of us and many Dem leaders position themselves as an ALTERNATIVE to RW agendas and media yet play THEIR game when it is one-party Russian roulette with the GOP only playing the part of the reloader.
This is lame beyond belief. You are telling me that Dean has suddenly been saying these "things" out of the blue and suddenly Little Lord Fauntleroy rules block anything except GOP whining, raging triumph and blanching Dem pols growing faint with disapproval? It's a joke. If not what about the ideas in these "rude" comments? As unexamined as Bush's AWOL record or the DSM or the fraud and exit polls(here, not the Ukraine which was covered almost as much as Kobe Briant).
Why doesn't Dean do this, not do that... Well, wise mouthed Dem posers, get the RW hand out of your indignant sock puppet and get on the message.
It is obvious beyond belief that the absence of a fair national forum- not only absence but a poisoned, inimical pyramid of lies- creates a need for the Dem spokespersons, media personalities, etc. to stop playing their game and fill the vacuum. That is more than whether and how many miffed DLC types have sung soprano in the current RW chorus, few really have- and those not too well loved here anyway. Filling the American information starting between their own ears. Lord knows, Dean HAS been trying to do so.
If Dean has been this "rude" about the Iraq War and other issues I'd personally like to hear more. Two weeks ago the same radio critics were complaining about the silence(not the silencing) of Dean.
Weeelll, guess who listened and acted. It wasn't Dean or the other Dems, but the lazy media vultures inspired to swoop down to help their Pretzeldent out of his current descent into poll hell.
Who needs freeper infiltrators when the flame war instigated by the RW using the old tractic of being the offended(tyhough guilty) party to turn their failing against their critics- takes off like a match in a fireworks factory? If you need that kind of stimulus....Nader Nader, God is dead, Hillary for president, etc.

and Dean has the support of most of the Outside the Washington DC beltway Democrats. The Congressional Dems can't fire Dean, only the DNC members who elected him, and most support Dean's goals of making the Dem Party less Washgington based and more state-based.

"'Cause I am tired of working for candidates who make me think I should be embarrassed to believe what I believe, Sam. I'm tired of getting them elected. We all need some therapy, because somebody came along and said 'liberal' means soft on crime, soft on drugs, soft on Communism, soft on defense, and we're gonna tax you back to the Stone Age because people shouldn't have to go to work if they don't want to. And instead of saying 'Well, excuse me, you right-wing, reactionary, xenophobic, homophobic, anti-eductaion, anti-choice, pro-gun, "Leave it to Beaver" trip back to the fifties,' we cowered in the corner and said 'Please, don't hurt me.' No more. I really don't care who's right, who's wrong. We're both right. We're both wrong. Let's have two parties, huh? What do you say?"

The repubs want to appear somewhat centrist, as do the dems, let's face it, that is how you win elections.
To admonish the people you speak of would be to admit that they have serious ties in the official business of the party. It is probably why the Dems don't tell the truly progressive to shut their holes.
I think they see Dean as scaring off their centrist followers.

But they also look to attract moderates by appearing centrist.
They have the far right to energize their base. The RNC is there to sell the party to independents.
The same is true of the DNC. That is why people are scared of Dean. If you ask me, to some degree, he is what the party needs, unfortunately money talks, and so far he has been subpar.
It's all about the cash, were he to bring in more money, mum would be the word on his outspokeness.
