Sick to death of media whores... |
|
I caught a glimpse of CNN coverage of an event where Bill Clinton was on stage with some Palestenian and Israeli children in a choir. He was out front with the soloist (a young girl) who was singing John Lennon's "Imagine". He burst into song along with her and did a pretty decent job.
After showing the clip, little Ms. Soledad O'Brien just had to make a snyde comment about how "Mr. President is not the best", made some sniveling little off-handed excuse, and then went on with her jabbering.
It just ran right through me. It was just galling to see this petty little tirade about the man's singing rather than to comment on what the event was all about. Once again, Mr. Clinton is involved in efforts to bring conciliation and goodwill amongst Israelis and Palestinians in a laudible gesture.
I can just assume that we will hear no such criticism of Mr. Bush as he tramples upon the lives, hopes, and dreams of these people and millions of others on this planet.
This whorish media just don't seem to get it that the world is upside down, and they are helping to keep it there.

1. I'm sick of them as well, fluba... |

had to stop watching mainstream news altogether, because I got really tired of screaming at my television. :-(
That, coupled with the fact that I got tired of lies.

2. Meanwhile during Hurricane Isabel... |
|
...CNN kept gushing about how they "were the only ones" who could bring you this state of the art 3-D map of the storm. They took pleasure in thr fact that people's homes were getting ruined. Whoop dee doo as if a 3-D map really tells me anything different than the 2-D map does. Gee the storm still looks like it is hitting North Carolina to me. God the media is a joke. No wonder the people in this country are so uninformed. News is now turned into a form of "entertainment".

3. I watch less then 10 min of TV news a week now. I used to have |
|
CNN on all day long. That ended during the Clinton adminstration.
I love information. I read several papers, and listen to radio all the time, and the first websites I go to are news sites. I'm the perfect demographic for TV news, and I watch none. I don't know how TV news can survive if it can't even attract me.

They get it all right. They know exactly what they'e doing. the problem is they don't care.
They are big corporations only out to make a buck anyway they can. And if they destroy society in the process that's okay, as long as they get their "profit qota."
They have tossed all standards and integrity out the window. It used to be that to become a network-level journalist, you usually paid your dues and worked your way up. If you were good enough and experienced enough, you made it to the top.
Now all you have to be is perky and bouncy. If you're a conservative nitwit, that helps too.
As long as out stupid nation continues to allow the corporate oligarchy to take over all aspects of society -- including the media -- we deserve what we get.

5. In fact, a couple weeks ago, I was called by one of those automated |
|
polling firms and asked questions about which newscasters I liked, and I didn't know a single one of them (they were the local newscasters). It was quite sad (for the news broadcasters, not for me -- I was quite proud of myself).

6. I wish I had as much willpower AP... |

It probably isn't good for my physical health or my psyche to continue to expose myself to this innanity and insanity. Nevertheless, I guess I just keep hoping that someway, somehow, the truth will begin to eke its way onto the national news scene. It certainly hasn't happened yet... it only seems to get worse.

7. cable news is not NEWS |
|
but you should keep an eye on the network evening news.
VERY hard hitting reports are getting in now.
CBS and ABC have been best with stunning reports on Iraq, "Leave no Child", air quality/WTC, etc etc.
but, cable is only for occasional headlines and infotainment

10. "but you should keep an eye on the network evening news". |

Maybe you can tell me...why can't there be an expanded 24 hour news show on cable patterned after the evening news? Why do we have to wait for a 30 minute news show to get anything worthy of real news?
What is the possibility of it ever happening? Why is it not happening?

8. I don't watch any news on TV or read US papers, |
|
get all my news from the Internet and European papers. I'm much happier that way. It's too difficult to tolerate the media whores and their daily nonsense. By the way, a reporter from the BBC was in the US during the invasion of Iraq, saw the coverage on our networks, particularly CNN, and went back to England to give a speech warning their media about what was happening here and to not let Clear Channel or other media whores take over their networks. People around the world know the US media is about as rightwing as you can get.

Make it a point to not buy ANYTHING advertised on the worst news channels. If there is no money coming in, they will revamp their programming.
