Strong Job Market Hurting Recruiting
I'm sorry it cracked me up when CNN reported that Army recruiting was way down the past three months. Reason #1 Strong Job Market Distant second- tough recruiting for Iraq or some such blah blah.

2. 'strong job market' eh?
high school students can't get newspaper delivery jobs. they're being done by middle-aged folks with Phd's who can't find anything else. that's a strong job market alright.

that shit came directly from Karl Rove.

3. If we actually had a strong job market,
they'd be 100% behind on their quotas.

11. Yup, no question...
... the average guy just out of high school is thinking, "now, do I want to go to work at MickeyD's for $5.50 an hour and take verbal and physical insubordination from a high-school drop-out assistant manager in a paper hat? Or, do I want to get verbal and physical insubordination from a drill instructor just to go to Iraq and get my ass shot off?"

And, then he thinks...: "Hey, I can always quit MickeyD's!"

All of CNN's announcers have their earpieces wired right into the White House Communications Office. Talk about a fuckin' earworm....

6. Yeah. That must be it
It probably has nothing to do with Bush recklessly starting a war based completely on lies, or his complete disregard for human life.

12. Don't They Read The News at CNN?
The last two months job market has been marginal at best. Geez, it was headline news just last week, regarding May. Nobody at that network is paying any attention.

13. The job market hasn't been strong since late 2000
So, CNN is telling us that there is a 4 1/2 year lag between a strong job market and military recruitment.

So it is time to complete the hoodwink!
An illegal war against an innocent country can't possibly have anything to do with recruitment. :eyes:

burger joint or car wash, than would choose to put up with boot camp and then to go and get their balls blown off for a pack of lies! A guy working at a burger place probably makes more money than a Pvt. E duce in the Army makes.

18. All those minimum wage and cleaning lady jobs definitely hurt recruiting.
Of course, gramma who can't make ends meet is competing for those jobs.

I saw the title in GD and my head started to spin. Then, I saw it was a quote from the media...no surprise! Strong Job Market? In what country?! As the newspaper title on "American Dad" said: "Economy Turns the Corner, Falls Down Stairs." That about sums it up!

On edit: After 400+ job applications, a master's degree, 10 years professional experience, I am STILL unemployed after TWO YEARS!

I could not believe my ears. I don't even know if it was repeated or embellished. To the average Foxx type viewer it probably made sense to them somehow. :silly:
