The Haliburton/Iraq Connection

Saw this segment on 60 Minutes last night and a question came to mind:

With Cheney's past association with Haliburton, wouldn't you think the administration would have at least made an attempt to scale back on some of the contracts awarded to Haliburton and spread the wealth to avoid the appearance of colusion?

Or do they just not give a crap?

The sheer arrogance of this administration never ceases to amaze me. :puke:

1. Didn't see the segment, but...

..."sheer arrogance of this administration" is practically the default (and correct) answer to just about every action and outrage committed by current occupiers of the Oval Office.

2. I loved the part where the former general

was going on about how clean and incorruptable the system for rewarding government contracts is.

"And what's your background?", the interviewer asked.

The former General looked cornered and exposed for a moment, then replied, "I'm with Halliburton".

Fucking priceless.

4. Halliburton - Brown and Root

Just watched Oliver Stone's JFK again as the 40th anniversary approaches.

Stone nails Brown and Root as the beneficiary of JFK's assassination as they were awarded the dredging contract for Cam Ranh Bay in Nam after the assassination.

They were also LBJ's primary financial backers in hgis rise to power.

Now the link back to JFK's death and the current administration comes clearer to me.

Stone was right. It IS all about the military contracts and the money to be made from war.

When I first saw this film I had no idea who Brown and Root was and this did not register back then.

Since then I have learned also that Brown and Root (Halliburton) is a primary Nuclear construction company, which I believe is killing MANY of us almost like a humongous population control device (see radiation.org for details on whatr lkeaky nukes are doing to ALL of us -- especially pregnant women and their babies in utero)

3. A good segment...

They didn't say much that hasn't been mentioned here but it was good to see it laid out for general consumption.

It was interesting that the privatization of military support functions began under Bush I--while Cheney was Secretary of Defense--with much $$$ going to Halliburton. Then he was CEO of Halliburton, although it was pointed out he had NO business experience. Finally, they mentioned "hundreds of thousands" of dollars he still receives from Halliburton per year--isn't it a million plus?

Finally--they showed some military chowing down at a pretty nice looking buffet--to illustrate the services supplied to the troops. From what I've heard, it was NOT representative of what's generally availabe in Iraq.

Even more finally--the ex-general interviewed is one of the smarmiest characters ever to oil his way across a TV screen.

5. That Hallibuton guy creeped me out

He had this creepy little smile that was on his face the entire time he talked. He reminded me of a televangelist trying to portray demeanor of trust. Scary dude.

I heard it on the radio so didn't get to see the face of the ones interviewed.

The interesting part is that this contract is classified so the people can't have access to the information.

Arrogance is the only thing they know. I think the sooner we understand this, the better. When they make mistakes, we shouldn't give them any wiggle room, what so ever.
