Pilot survives Iraq only to be killed at home during truck theft

An Army helicopter pilot killed near Killeen last week after returning from an overseas mission in February will be remembered for his dedication to military service, family and friends said.

Capt. Jason L. Gonzalez, 28, stationed at Fort Hood, died Friday at his home in Harker Heights after he was shot to death and his truck stolen. Harker Heights police said Thursday they have not made any arrests and had no further comment.

Former classmates and teachers from Central Catholic High School held a memorial service Wednesday at Fort Hood. Many said they didn't expect such a killing away from a war zone.

"It didn't happen in Iraq," said Clarissa Rodriguez, a friend of Gonzalez's since high school, adding that he maintained a high sense of discipline in the classroom and as an athlete.

I mean we all know the army had him killed to cover something up, right? maybe he was going to speak out against the war?
