3. This struck me earlier in the week

The 3 question press conference-W talking about forgiving debt

Huh?

First, we are debt up to our eyeballs. Yes I know we hold lots of debt of other countries but...

Second, as in debt as we are why would we give up an asset?? Does that any business/financial sense* ..... oh yeah I forgot about the business "wizards" who are running the show.

*-of course I think that giving up African debt IS a good idea and the thing to do.

6. And of course, there's the irony,

taking history into account, of considering Africa to be indebted to us.

Listening to this Admin is sometimes kinda like taking a glass of cold water in the face, ain't it?

I swear that part of their strategery to keep the opposition at bay is to repeatedly make statements that cause us to say "Did he just say that?" "I can't believe he just said that" and while we are shaking our heads they move on to something else.

5. Maybe I'm a dummy, but why do we care if other countries are

...democratic? I get why we think other government torturing people is not a good thing (hey, that's ironic, too) but why should we care if they have a different form of government?

7. US foreign policy since WWII

Before that we dabbled more than a bit in colonialism ( hmm ) but since then the standard that made us the good guys was/is that we want to give people the power of self governance and self determination. I know I know we haven't always really held ourselves up to that but that is what the banner reads anyway.
