Iraq was never a threat to our right of free speech
It is often asserted in letters to the editor that U.S. troops in Iraq are defending the constitutional free speech rights of those who oppose the war. However, Iraq did not attack the United States. Iraq did not threaten to attack the United States. Iraq did not have the military capacity to attack the United States. Iraq had no connection to 9/11. So, once and for all, our troops in Iraq (all honor to them), whatever else they may be doing, are not defending our right of free speech, because Iraq was never a threat to that right.
