Howard Dean knows what's going on
he nails it here. He knows they're trying to make HIM the issue, and he doesn't play along.

He names the two parties that are working together to orchestrate this circus: the media and the GOP. If you saw the clip, you'd see that he emphasised "you" and gestured toward the reporters.

And notice how different he sounds than some people here who supposedly "have his back." He doesn't say one thing against any dem, and he doesn't portray himself as any kind of victim.

Like I said, he knows what's up.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/09/AR2005060901389.html

<snip>

"We're not going to let the Republicans set the agenda and to be quite honest we aren't going to let you set the agenda," Dean told reporters after a private meeting at the Capitol with Senate Democratic leaders, calling the fallout over his comments "a media circus."

1. I'm sure he knows
Dean isn't chairman for his good looks. ;) But his brains too. He's a very smart politician and knows damn well what they're up to. They for sure are trying to make him the issue again. When in doubt bring Dean out. Heh heh. That rhymed. ;) But yeah, they do that. When things get heated with Bush make Dean and the "failing democratic party" an issue. Heh, we're not failed!

2. this whole brouhaha
has done nothing but make Dean look even more convincing in my eyes. I am not a Deaniac either, I was Kerry all the way after Clark fell by the wayside.

4. He reminds me of Harry Truman
Truman was often blunt and the media also pounced on him--but as HST said, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

8. Harry Truman is one of Dean's heroes.
Harry Truman: "I just tell 'em the truth, and they THINK it's hell!"

5. There's more to this that might be helpful for us.
Remember how one of their favorite strategies to is accuse us of what they are doing?

Maybe *they're* divided as hell and barely holding it together. It would make perfect sense at that point to make Dean the issue while they whip out their Krazy Glu.

7. Could be
I wouldn't be surprised. And people have been saying off and on for a little while now they were leaving the republican party. They're just jealous we got Dean on our side and he's giving them hell. ;) They can't pull shit over him.

6. Republicans do too, check this out:
Rep. Roy Blunt, the No. 3 House Republican, accused Democrats of a political two-step, with Dean throwing "the most below-the-belt political punches" in recent memory while "leading Democrats tell the American people that they don't agree with the nasty rhetoric after each Dean cheap shot."

So glad they had a meeting today to hash out strategy.

11. Howard Dean speaks for a wider audience than the country club
Democrats.

Biden, Obama, and all the rest of you - go play some golf and talk about how to keep a center.

I think so!

Give 'em hell Howard.

The real problem that he isn't talking about are the DLC Dems like Biden and Edwards. With friends like those....
