Bob Shrum sounds off about Howard Dean!
I was SHOCKED!

Bob Shrum DEFENDED Howard Dean on Hardball today much to the surprise and dismay of Chris Matthews.

I think Democrats on the Capital Hill are getting the message: LAY OFF DEAN!!

Shrum stated that strong rhetoric is essentially the job of the chairmanship of both the Democratic and Republican party and Dean's language is no more inflammatory than the Republicans sound bites about Democrats. He evened seemed to be delighted that Dean is speaking out with tough language.

4. If you aren't going to play tough, there's no reason to play ball.
The far right religious mumbo jumbo squad is the equivalent of fascists, if you don't hit them hard and fast, don't hit them at all. Dean isn't meant to be nice considering he is the Chairman.

13. I'm not sure Tweety likes any Democrat...
Maybe I'm wrong but he's become so cozy with Republicans his interviews with Dems seem to be more combative. He interviewed Dean a number of times and seemed to enjoy his candor.

24. Good point. I wonder if Matthews is still a registered Dem?
He has to be the nation's most self-loathing Democrat.

His Catholic sense of outrage over Clinton's marital infidelity has grown over the years into quite the interesting psychological study. one would almost think that Chris himself had cheated and never forgave himself, or perhaps someone in his family had hurt him, so affected was he by Clinton's betrayal.

Then again, he might just be a full-blown whore for the Republican party and has settled comfortably into that well-compensated role.

27. Chris Matthews played "the scream" video clip over and over.
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 07:38 PM by Eric J in MN
Matthews even admitted that he was "wallowing" in the Dean-scream clip.

Those weren't the actions of a Dean supporter.

I've never seen them be so nervous and top-heavy before....Could it sink in that they are *gasp* NOT representing any real christian's values?

deal with Howard Dean. They're not used to anybody standing up to them.

Maybe in some distorted and twisted way they think they represent Christian values. To me, they are the Christian underbelly because they are so divisive and hypocritical.

17. I think Howard Dean is SO refreshing...
It's about time somebody stood up to these assholes and stopped kissing their butts. No more Mr. Nice Guy. I think Dr. Dean should sling every bit of rhetoric he can think of in their direction just like they've done to us for, lo, these many years. I'm just pretty well sick of the way the Republicans have tried to make us feel small and powerless and fearful, like we should be grateful for any little crumb they throw our way. FUCK THEM, I say. (I talk this way late at night when I figure no one's out there to read my posts.)

22. I love it, MelodyB
and, by the way, I read your rant(s) -- don't feel bad for getting frustrated. Things are moving way too slow for me, too. It just seems so fucking obvious what a bunch of dangerous, evil people we're dealing with here, and yet so many people stay so blind. It makes me want to beat my head against the wall. Even my lovely Democratic lawyer daughter in LA hadn't heard about the Downing Street memo when I asked her about it today. I'll give her a break -- I mean, she is a baby associate, after all, in a huge law firm and she's very, very busy -- but I know she keeps track of the news to a certain extent and the only reason she doesn't know about any of this stuff is because the network news is glossing over it. We can only pray that it'll break like Watergate one of these days -- I remember so well how shocking but invigorating that was when Nixon came crashing down after winning by such a huge margin. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll have that moment again -- and SOON.

25. ha ha ha ha ha, and HA! there's this movie, called 'The Bug'
one of the scenes involves a gradeschool kid who over hears his dad yell "MotherFUCKer!!!" over something in the morning

he goes to school, messes up on something, and yells out the very same epithet

cut to the kid in the back seat of the car, going home in the middle of the day with dad, looking back at him in obvious, great, annoyance

at a stoplight, a woman oversees this, and has a very brief conversation with the dad: "Kids!"

she goes home, tells her boyfriend that she's finally decided that she does NOT want kids, for sure. He does, so she breaks up with him

it's a very interesting movie

It might have been on IFC or Sundance

digital cable, anyway

20. The Dems should get the message because...
Dean is our guy and he packs a punch. Hard to predict a man you can't buy off - a win for our side. The Repubs will be blindsided, lol. Shrum said Dean didn't have a script, for me this is a good thing.
