Bush to UN: No concessions on Iraq

While seeking additional international support in postwar Iraq, President Bush will risk deepening diplomatic divisions in Tuesday’s address to the United Nations by insisting that he was right to order an invasion of Iraq without the organization’s explicit approval and rebuffing requests for a quick transfer of power to an Iraqi government and a significant expansion of the U.N.’s role, U.S. officials and published reports indicated Monday.

2. Bushs Failed Diplomacy at work again

he leaked out the idea of working with the UN a few weeks ago and even sent out powell to discuss the issue, but since there is zero chance of a meaningful resolution to be enacted by the security council, he's trying to save face from beggin for help because of this ill-conceieved adventure. Gep was right to use harsh language by calling him a Miserable Failure. It will help him politically with the base and now it appears it wont even hurt him in the general if he should be win the Dem Nom.

the 800 lb ape is still in Bush's living room without a UN bailout.
That is he (and we) will still be stuck with 150,000 under-supplied troops in a hell of gorilla and civil war and a $87,000,000,000.00 plus bill for this criminal's actions.
What is more, his illegal and treasonous actions are out for all to see. Indeed his only hope is that others in power will attempt to protect the office if not the man, to hide the absolutely immoral and illegal collusion between themselves and the multinational war profiteers.

That is the question at hand. Have they come to realize that they can't do it all by themselves, but are still exercising their overabundant hubris in demanding that the rest of the world abide by their terms? Or is this just another maneuver in their ongoing campaign to remove the US from any pretense of multilateralism in the 21st century?

While we (and Iraq, especially) are fucked for the foreseeable future in EITHER instance -- it is an important question to ask. Could this just be another example of Bush trying to point out the "irrevalence" of the UN to the 'Murican people in hopes of ultimately destroying it?

I don't think they have thought for even one minute that the U.S. can't do it all. They will demand. And those who are afraid of jail will do as they are told, never realizing that if we stick together there aren't enough jails to hold us all.

People in this country feel that if the terrorists win every bit of freedom we have will be gone forever. What they don't "get" is that if the administration gets its way every bit of freedom we have will be gone forever.

And you're right, they do still think that they can do it all. This latest event is just another attempt to bully the rest of the world into supporting the "Pax Americana".

But it will be bound to be short lived. Any other ill-conceived misadventures like the one we're currently on will lead to our inevitable collapse as the world's hyperpower. We're stretched too thin, our economy is increasingly teetering due to ballooning national and TRADE deficits, and the rest of the world is increasingly moving away from us.

Bush messed up in Iraq. He can't go hat in hand to the United Nations and have them laugh in his face. So he decides to dis the United Nations again.

Only a creep like Bush would try to make such a bald-faced preemptive political strike against the United Nations. Polls say Americans want Bush to seek U.N. participation, so what does Bush do? He monkey wrenches the deal that he knows he couldn't get anyway and blames the failure on the United Nations.

Could he really do that? Right in broad daylight? Will they boo him? Will Americans buy it?

There are businesses in Europe that are salivating to get into Iraq and Bush is playing this card against the government leaders of those countries. Business vs government. He believes this will be persuasive enough to bring them around...
