can someone give me a list of countries...
that provide universal healthcare for their citizens...I need to settle a dispute that we are one of the few industrialized nations that does not provide it.

Thanks in advance

3. Here's a Reference

How can we discredit any other countries' health care when we are the only industrialized country in the world without universal health care for its citizens?

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/soap141.shtml

Unfortunately, it doesn't enumerate all of them. I believe South Africa is another country which does not have universal health care.

4. Australia
We have health coverage for all provided by the Govt (for which we pay a levy on our taxes, I think it's about 2% of taxable income, but I'm not sure since it's so little I hardly check).

If you want better than that, you can get private insurance (subsidized 30% by Govt, since that in turn eases the burden on the public system), but from reading posts here even our private insurance is practically free by comparison to costs in the US.

I can give you the whole model if you like, but since it's not what you asked for, I'll save it for another time :-)

Oh, and as for why we have it, here are a couple of reasons

1. Any decent RICH country would do it (and both our countries are rich)
2. I would help my neighbours if they were sick, and in this sense, all my countrypersons are my neighbours.

5. Here's some that I know of
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Netherlands, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, France.

I am betting Italy and Spain as well but I am not sure about those.
