I have seen first hand what "an aggressive course of radiation and chemotherapy" can do to a person. I am sure he will survive it, but the worst has possibly not yet come.

27. I know what you mean but I feel Andy's frame of mind

and all the love and support will help through the radiation and chemo. He is very prepared and eating very healthy to get ready for all of it.

32. Frame of mind is very important.

It isn't any "newage" (rhymes with sewage) crap that if you have a great attitude towards recovering, you are far more likely to make it.

Once, long ago, they didn't think I was going to make it; I had been in a head-on crash and had gotten messed up pretty bad. They had to cut me out with the "jaws of life". I had cracked my sternum, had a sub-talar dislocation of both feet, one acute and the other not so bad, had cracked many of my teeth, lost every filling in my mouth, and had massive internal bruising in my gut. Peristalsis had stopped, and did not resume for three days. And they thought they would have to amputate the worst-injured foot if I lived, as it was cold and blue by the time the orthopedist reduced the dislocation. But I had it firmly fixed in my head that I was going to make it. And here I am. (Though many reading this might wish otherwise.)

Everything is so much more clear now.
Andy, great to hear that a full recovery is expected and that your diabetes is gone. My father just had his second toe cut off because of adult onset diabetes. He's 82 and says he didn't notice the toe before or after. He lost his big toe a few years back.
